Juxtaposition of Opposites in Games.

Someone on another thread brought up the idea of a survival horror game held in broad daylight, which got me thinking: why don't games experiment more often with settings and themes that are the exact opposite of the gameplay mechanics? This thread is to discuss games that have done so, and also to discuss juxtapositions that would or would not work.

Here's a couple ideas to get started:
A city-building strategy game in which cleverly and realistically destroying your city is the objective in some levels.

A dank and gritty first-person shooter that shifts to a brightly colored, hallucinogen-inspired dreamworld--but only for the most disturbing moments.

A turn-based racing simulator. (Okay, that was just for laughs, but you get the idea. I want to see what sort of bizarre gameworlds you people can come up with.)

EDIT: How's this: A game in which you take the form of a giant, man-eating, limited-animation octopus or similar creature and go around terrorizing people, with bonus points given for killing characters who speak cliched dialogue using the worst acting techniques available.

EDIT 2: Since that's less a juxtaposition than it is a total opposite, have Monster Movie: The Game or whatever it'd be called be a hybrid puzzle/slot car racing game.

FPS where you play as one of the grunts trying to get away from the hero. Kinda like the monarch's henchmen from Venture Bros.

An RPG where you play the hero's left shoe.
"LEVEL UP! +2 Arch Support!"

But this is the sort of thing I was hoping to see.

I actually got that idea while walking to school one morning...It is strange what videogames and bleary eyed morning confusion can converge to make.

An open world crime game where you're a cop. Realistically done, too, so no ridiculous super awesome car chases every other second. Your day consists of drinking coffee and giving people tickets for moving violations, parking violations and arresting the occassional kid for possession. Why? Because it's the suburbs!

Heck, a decent survival horror game where you actually play as Pyramid Head, the zombie lord, or whatever would be nice.

Who was this person? (the survival horror thing)

An Rpg open world game set in a city without any magical elfs or powers, just your personality and desires to throw coffee cups at people.

A RTS with fighters who are about to attack...when peace is called. Everyone shakes hands and goes home, it then turns into a Sims-esque life simulator.
Yes! an mmo it would be with a working economy which would be crushed as the jobs ran scarce as all the returning soldiers sought jobs and the mob war would start and then the game would REALLY begin!

A Mario-esque platformer strategy game where you design traps and place enemies in order to kill Mario as he goes through the level. Difficulty would ramp as you get to manipulate less and less of the stage (no opening of a bottomless pit under his feet at the level's start, for example).

But right now there aren't enough cop games on the market. What about a game where you play as a city's only police officer and go around arresting as many people as possible?

A game where you play as a hedgehog. Nothing special, just move around in grass, looking for grasshoppers to eat and occasionally get picked up, and instead of running away from police, you run away from foxes! It would be an animal life simulation.

A game where you play from the end to the beginning with the controls oriented to support that kind of gameplay.

A game where you must campaign to become the president of the U.S.A and you win the popular vote but lose the election.

A game where you're the only person WITHOUT magic.
Actually that could lead to some really interesting story elements, provided the developers didn't Mary Sue-ify the character in order to make up for lack of magic.

What about games like Silent Hill - a game that immerses you in an environment that doesn't have any enemies. In the second Silent Hill, the player is attacked by James' enemies, then placed on a street filled with fog, and nothing but. Because of the horror the player just faced, they expect to be attacked while in the fog, but nothing happens.

So, a survival game that turns on and off the horror; a psychological horror.

OH! OR something like Eternal Darkness! A game that is made to fuck with your mind. Epic-awesome.

The thing is, crime games are always with you as the criminal or a corrupt cop in some big city. You're never average joe cop in the suburbs.
