Kid Becomes "Little Zangief" in Response to Bullying

I'm with Casey on this one. Many of us were bullied all through our school years, and I sympathize with the boy because my husband was as large as that kid is now. And, sort of like Casey, my husband fought his bullies in any way that he could. His late father (never met him, but heard stories about him from hubby) supported it, too.

Late father-in-law's number 1 rule: never fight fairly, 'cause there's a good chance that the other son-of-a-***** won't be fighting fairly, either.

I know this comment will probably never get read, but for once I can say the the Escapist is a little late on the news :)
The Casey video has been going round the web for at least a week. I remember seeing it on a friend's facebook page about that long ago.

I'm so glad that as a modern society we celebrate acts of violence rather than being, you know, civilized.

I really don't get why this has garnered so much attention though. Not the first time something like this has happened.
This is a modern society where bullying is tolerated, even expected. So when we see a bully's actions get him something other than a shrug from uncaring adults, we cheer. Sadly the well deserved retribution comes in the form of violence from the victim who's sick of no one in authority caring what happens to him.

We live in a society where "Watch your own back, the problem of others is just that. The problem of someone other than me." Victims have to take things into their own hands when the people who are even paid to protect them still don't give a damn.

We who have been victims ourselves, you obviously haven't been, understand this. And yes, we cheer when the tormentor gets the table turned on him.

You can find it on youtube real easily. Just type in zangief kid.

I'm wonderin what happened with that bigger kid who was trying to take him on afterward. The other bullies aren't gonna let him get a backbone like that. They'll be all over him.

I saw it ages ago, just wondering about the "hate speech" element. And the bigger kid who goes after him gets waylaid by an older girl who had been watching, in an effort to break it up and shit

Dunno then. I'd hope to apologise, especially after what he's just seen, but those kids didn't look that clever

So we're celebrating and praising a kid for pile-driving a smaller kid into the ground?
No. We are praising self-defense. Notice that after a bully got thrown on the ground, that kid just walked away, while he could beat him up some more. I respect him for that.
Still, he could have killed the kid if he had dropped him on his head. Responding to a violent person with more violence is natural, but it's not necessary. If Casey didn't retaliate and the video made it onto the internet, then the bully would have no doubt been expelled and his friends suspended.
you were never bullied were you?
if you were you would know that this does NOT stop till you make them. the system in place doesnt work these kids would probily have said he started it and the teachers would have beleaved them due to the fact there are more of them.

Alright no, this is not alright.

We all want to stand up to bullies, and a good punch to the face would have been great, but this could have literally killed the guy if he landed just a little bit differently.

It is sheer luck this didn't become a story about a murder, so no, it's not alright, I sympathize with the kid, and I do think he should have retaliated, but we shouldn't be praising him for using force that could have easily been lethal.
i aggree that this could have gone bad but if he had killed the prick (and yes he is a prick) it would have been manslauter in self defense. Now if this would of happened it would of been tragic that a kid who was bullied killed someone when he didnt mean to but to be fair had it happened it was his own fault and while tragic would have been fully suported by my slef and most people i know.
So bullying means you deserve to get murdered? You'd support murder in response to bullying? Seriously?

I get that capital punishment is a hot debate recently, but capital punishment for schoolyard bullying isn't a debate that anyone is having.

I think you need to get your priorities straight, do you want to live in a world where someone is justified to murder a school bully?
Use the terminology correctly. For it to be murder, there has to be intent to kill. What this would be (if the little bastard had croaked it) is manslaughter. Killed by accident, with no intent to do so, combined with it being self-defense. Manslaughter, and low level manslaughter at that. It may seem to be nit picking, but the different crimes exist because the differences are bloody important.

Casey got hit, several times. Casey defended himself, using appropriate force levels (non-lethal force versus non-lethal force, and yes, an unarmed body slam is considered non-lethal force). If the kid had gotten killed or badly hurt, that would have been too bad, but I'd have had to consider it a self inflicted injury. As it is, he's relatively unhurt, and maybe Casey will have fewer bullies to worry about in the future. I sure wouldn't want to mess with the guy.
You realize that self defense requires appropriate levels of force right? That is, only enough to remove the threat of harm to yourself.

Casey clearly removed the harm to himself when he grabbed the kid, the kid could no longer hit him, after removing the threat, Casey then proceeded to lift him and basically drop him on his head.

Much like you can't shoot someone in the face 5 times for slapping you, this was nowhere near "appropriate force levels"
What do YOU suggest he should've done after he grabbed the little shit, then? Put him down nicely?

Video removed due to hate speech?... What??? Just... What...

Anyways, heres a 'remix' video for those who cant find one- http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xhm03a_little-zangief-zangief-kid-street-fighter-version_fun

I congratulate the kid for standing up to himself, and I will also call the bully an idiot for deciding its a good idea to pick on somebody bigger than him. Not sure if some of those other people were in the "Bullies group" or not.

"Removing the threat of harm to yourself" is only possible by disabling your attacker to the point that they can no longer continue harming you. any other course of action leaves the attacker free to continue their attack.

When he was held down he was no longer able to attack. At that point dropping him on his head was past what was needed.

Yelled at the top of his lungs for a teacher.

Yes I know it doesn't sound as exciting as "Slam the fucker onto the ground head-fucking-first" but we live in the real world, dropping someone on their head is a great way to be sent to jail for murder.

The amount you are exaggerating, nit picking I can only assume you are being deliberately augmentative.

If pain is the only thing that would stop the other kid. Then lifting him in the air wouldn;t do it, as it doesn't hurt him.

It's obviously self-defense. Even if it wasn't ruled thusly it would still be considered accidental manslaughter.

Are you extremely ignorant, or just being a troll?
Pain is the only thing that can stop the kid? Really? Because before he dropped him he was holding him down in a completely helpless position.

Who the hell ever said pain is the only thing that will stop him? That makes no sense, physically restraining him (which Casey actually successfully did before needlessly putting him in mortal danger by dropping him on his head) worked just fine, at that point he should have screamed for a teacher.

I know everyone wants to stand up to bullies, and I know "screaming for a teacher" doesn't sound as exciting as "piledriving the ************" but people are forgetting that this kid could have easily DIED from landing on his head like that. Casey's life was not being threatened, but he sure as hell threatened the life of the other kid. Necks can be damaged permanently from so much as a fender bender if it happens the wrong way, Casey is just lucky he isn't in jail for manslaughter.

So in short, no I'm not a troll, I just realize that this is real life and not TV, and the appropriate amount of force against a bully is not to put him in a situation where the only reason he isn't dead or in a wheelchair is sheer luck.

dapascooch, do you really think that if casey had simply put him down, the little scumbag would have gone "oh, very sorry casey,I'm a terrible person and will never do that again"? No, he'd have carried right on, probably worse.

Edit : No, you are not a troll.. you are an idiot. Do you know what happens when you "run to teacher"? They do nothing.. they never have, and never will.. their hands are tied and all they can do is speak to the parents. The parents of a child who does that sort of thing, will do nothing in turn.

Scum like that child should never be allowed in school again, they should be perminantly ostracised from society and their parents should disown them. He is a criminal who assaulted an innocent bystander repeatedly until said victim finally had enough. If Casey faces any legal issues from this, then the bully should face an assault charge for every single blow he ever landed on anyone in his life.

Couldn't we quietly make this a wrestling matter instead of a video game matter? You KNOW what FOX News is gonna say about this.

Either way, to Casey I say good job but next time just push him out of the way and brace for a shoulder guard when he comes back...breaks a lot more bones and you can't get in trouble for it *snicker* I should know ;)

He should've yelled for a teacher, while holding a kid that is smaller than him, and have a bunch of the smaller kids friends around him.

Yeah, that'll work out well.
