Err, wait, I was talking about the thread you supposedly posted in the Killzone forums wasn't I? Or did I yet again completely misread your posts again?

Oh you meant that one, I didn't actually make a new thread there, I just asked about the controls in the community leader thread since I figured the community leader would check that stickied thread. You can see it here:http://killzone.com/kz/_ns:YVByb3h5LTF8YzB8ZDB8ZXByb3h5VGFyZ2V0PTE9TDNOalpXVXZZbTloY21RdmJXVnpjMkZuWlQ5aWIyRnlaQzVwWkQwNUpuUm9jbVZoWkM1cFpEMHhOalEzTnlaMmFXVjNQV0o1WDJSaGRHVmZZWE5qWlc1a2FXNW5KbkJoWjJVOU1qZz09/forums.psml It starts towards the bottom of page 28 in "MusterBuster - Your Community Team Leader!"

Alright, I'll muster up the courage and argue for it if that's okay.

*sigh* sometimes being a dreamer is dangerous.

So, i'd like you to post your thoughts on Killzone 2, I haven't played it but since its mainstream, has sci-fi marines and every tone of grey on the "realistic colour" wheel, i'm going to take a wild stab in the dark and say that the story is basically a go there kill aliens, plot twist, more aliens and then one giant alien clusterfuck leading to an end.
Just my thoughts, post yours!
I'm sorry mods, I really am, but I just have to get this off my chest. I imagine that most of us here are thinking the very same thing anyway.

You sir, are perhaps the biggest tool I've seen on this site in quite some time. We get it, Yahtzee is a funny guy, but Christ, think for yourself and stop worshiping him and blindly trying to conform to his opinions. The fact that you are trying so hard to act like him AND have a Yahtzee-inspired avatar just proves to us all that you are a tool. At least wait until the game comes out to imitate Yahtzee's "it sucks" opinion.

With that out of the way, I'll express my own opinion. I'll admit, I was really skeptical of Killzone 2. In fact, I still am. Killzone on the PS2 wasn't really anything to write home over besides the pretty graphics (For its time) so excuse me for being skeptical. But, that said, I think Killzone 2 is shaping up to be a pretty good shooter. I'll reserve my full judgment, and money, until it comes out and I can rent or burrow it, but I think it has potential to be pretty solid. Besides, it isn't like there are a ton of shooters coming out around this time anyway...Surprisingly, the number of high profile RTS releases actually outnumbers the list of high profile shooters at this moment in time.

Stop being Yahtzee.
Ive been seeing alot of those forums recently. They all sound like something Yahtzee would say. Titles like "Psychonauts is the best game EVAR!!!" and "I'm tired of brown and grey!!!" send a little message to my brain to not clink on the threads.
I'm sorry but I don't know what you are saying. Are you saying everybody does it or something else?

Killzone is an average shooter in the sense that its not innovative, but its certainly a very well polished game.
Hmm maybe it is another halo after all.

Halo had nowhere near this level of polish.
Polished unimaginative games are still unimaginative games, no matter what their sheen looks like.

The story is hardly that simple: http://www.killzone.com/kz/storyline.psml The site is down right now due to a massive overhaul in preparation for the game's multiplayer and stat tracking integration, but just be patient.

I got a chance to play it, and while I didn't go in hoping for much, I didn't leave all that surprised either. In a word, it's passable. Graphically it is gorgeous, but graphics don't make the game. The single player isn't bad, though story is expectantly generic, and the acting is hit and miss. (Also polluted with far too much swearing at completely pointless moments) I'm not really sure if the AI is good, or just mindblowingly awful. At times it seems like they're working like the enemies in FEAR (great AI), and other times they ignore my blasting them in the shoulder and face, to spray more soldiers behind cover.

The biggest selling point for most is likely the multiplayer, but since I still play both games it flagrantly ripped off, I'm fairly annoyed. Take the leveling system and perks from CoD4, strap on some very obvious TF2 swiping, and you're done. Warzone is the only mildly inventive thing they've done, and it is interesting. But I still can't get over the "Hey, TF2 is real popular, let's 'borrow' from it."

It's the PS3's Halo. Single system fanboys will adore it, multi system owners will still play it to see what the big deal is, and PC diehards like me will go back to thier TF2, Left 4 Dead, or Counter-strike.

Just to clarify that preset I sketched is only relevant if you want to aim with your left thumb. Most of the other configurations will work fine if you are right handed or can aim with your right hand.
Oh, I didn't get that that from the thread. Good news, I can now enjoy Killzone 2.

Thanks for clearing that up. I did think it was strange but I remember I couldn't swap the sticks on the first Killzone so I wasn't surprised. I lost that battle though and now strafe with the right.

Linkage plox. If we need to keep our facts straight, some proof yourself would be kind of you.
I've heard this too but no one has refuted the article that prompted my thread. Other people on the Killzone.com have said that those are the only settings available. Also keep in mind that customization does not mean that the user has direct control over the button mapping.

Edit:

This is the article I am talking about:http://www.gamersdigest.net/569/killzone-2-controller-presets-revealed/
You're complaining because the player can't completely customize the controls from scratch?! I've never even heard of a single console game that has that, most don't even have presets, yet you're holding that against Killzone 2?!?! What the fuck...

Heh this is very different to the Halo 3 lauch.

Before Halo 3 came out you either said "Ewww Halo sucks" or "Yaay Halo rules". Now people are actually saying wait till it comes out. I'm glad people have started to learn to judge a game after they have played it.

Looks at the OP and many over posts. Nope, my bad, sorry.

As for Killzone 2 itself. if I did have a PS3 (thanks to November Rain [I think?] I might be gettting one) I still wouldn't buy it. It doesn't seem like a must own title. A fun game to play it may be but how many people in 5-20 years will say "Do you remember Killzone 2? THAT GAME RULED!"

Black says hi, Resistance franchise says hi, Max Payne 2 says hi (though this was limited), Haze says hi, Orange Box on 360 (and presumably PS3 though at the time it was bugged because they let you break the game entirely with remapping.) says hi. Oh and I clearly stated in my own thread that I was talking about the Southpaw configurations, so who is the uninformed idiot here?

If you were to review COD4, COD5, Halo 1, 2, 3, Mercenaries, Warhawk, MGS4, Splinter Cell: Double Agent, Destroy All Humans, Far Cry 2, Battlefield: Bad Company, Killzone, Kill.Switch, Gears of War 1 and 2, Alone in the Dark, or any other game that doesn't have full customization, you would knock points off no matter how good it is?

If I was reviewing the game using some objective system and I found that I could not play the game because of lack of options, or the game caused me pain to play as COD 4, 5, Halo 3 did I would take off points. The controls are the most important part of a game's gameplay. Fighting the controls under any circumstances is not fun. What's the point if it hurts to play the game or the controls make the game unfun to play? Why shouldn't points be taken off when it's not exactly difficult to give the player full control, on the PC this is the standard when it comes to using the Mouse/KB. Why shouldn't I take off points in the event options present in the game are actually physically impossible to use for a human being with two arms, and two hands, and two thumbs or otherwise allow you to break the game? (See Orange Box on 360.)

Good software and good programmers do not pretend that they have any idea what the player wants to do when it comes to key mapping. That is the users territory and his or hers alone period. People that forget this are either stupid or arrogant. Especially when giving the user control is extremely easy and can be done for free.

It is.

It's the Killzone Moses parting the Red (Ring of Death) Sea after transporting the PS3 across the endless desert (of mediocrity of games that have come out so far for the PS3).

That's my personal interpretation after seeing the comic and talking to a drop-dead-tired comic artist at 2 am his time.

I'm sure the rant that goes up later will be more verbose with elegantly honeyed words of an over-talkative Tycho.

Oh, and btw, I've played KZ2, and it's not as awful or as glowing as everyone is making it out to be. It's going to be a decent FPS game that builds on a solid multiplayer experience. While the single player was only acceptable to me, I feel the multiplayer is going to be one of the best this year.

I'd give it a 8.5 out of 10 (I gave Halo 3 only a 8 out of 10 and TF2 a 8.5 out of 10, so you know about where I stand on this).
