That's pretty awesome. And DAMN, that cat was huge!
I could only imagine if there really would be a huge cat like that...no-one would EVER come above ground level.

So he made them move WHILE he was in the game? How is that even possible?
His kinect camera is sending the data into minecraft and some translation programme is turning that data into minecraft blocks.
Yeah, but most map editors require that the file not be currently read or written to while using it, which to be honest, is something almost EVERYTHING requires, I'm more impressed that he can edit the maps while Minecraft is using them then the actual Kinect hack!
Well it's not so much moving as changing so maybe it is a preset collection of pictures taken by the Kinect and set in a cycle. Each picture gets ported in turn providing the illusion of movement.
Exactly.. MineCraft has to be closed and reopened for each frame. That's why the clouds move so quickly in the background. A Python script did all this work for me though!

This was so amazing. And they want to bring those Kinect Hackers DOWN?! They make such beautiful work.

No, Microsoft is even putting Kinect dev tools and drivers in some kind of PC development kit. There was an article about it on this site a few days ago. Remember, Kinect is made by Microsoft, not the sue-happy bastards at Sony.

EDIT: Found it. It was just a rumor though: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/new...ft-Working-on-Official-Kinect-Drivers-and-SDK
But anyway, yeah at first Microsoft was butthurt, but they changed their minds pretty quickly. Good move too, as there's really nothing they could have done to stop it, and continuing to jump up and down going "STOOOOP IT!" would make them look like Sony jerks.

(Yeah I still like my PS3, but I don't like Sony so much anymore for their actions this generation. Could you tell? :p)

I like how a few months ago before Kinect was released, everyone was being a cry baby and going on about how motion gaming sucks and how Kinect is a cash grab and that it will flop terribly. Now everyone is praising it for the innovation and freedom it provides to hackers and programmers.

The irony is delicious.
I haven't changed my mind about Kinect yet, in terms of gaming it's still stupid but the technology behind it is great.

Awesome. I can see this being made public and there will be a war of the giants in every world
EDIT: Also Notch should make a huge statue of himself in everyworld, but hid it so the players must explore in order to witness such an epic thing.

Cock. Now I'll have to readjust my castle's defences to withstand giant cats. Thanks a lot. Meanie.

I should have seen this coming. It won't be long before the cat gets lazer eyes and employs armies of zombie minions to hunt us down. I'm dissapointed in myself for not seeing this.

I'll go sit in the corner and cry now.

So, how many days until someone uses this technology to make a minecraft-porno?
Is it sad that I'd be excited to watch that more for the Minecraft awesomeness than the actual porno?

Nah, I'm quite sure it would be sadder to want to watch minecraft-porn for the porn component.
