I'm very excited about Radiohead's upcoming album. Given that radiohead encompassed several genres in previous albums, the scope for this album seems immense.I'm curious to hear other peoples hopes as to what style the album will take on.

I was totally caught by surprise when I found out that this was coming out. I actually learned about this from someone mentioning it in a valentine's day thread. Hehehee, go figure. I really can't wait to see what tracks will be on this. I wonder if they will be going along the In Rainbow (which I thought was phenomenal)/Hail to the Thief vibe or for something completely different (only radiohead album I was meh about was Kid A).

Along the same topic sort of, I just finished learning how to play Karma Police on piano ^^. I used to be able to play a ton of their songs on acoustic, but I switched to playing piano a few years ago. I'm finishing with 'knives out' and starting 'no surprises'. My favorite RH songs to play on acoustic were 'Fake Plastic Trees' and 'True Love Waits' but the piano adaptation I have seen are much too hard for me.

I remember after In Rainbows they swore they weren't going to make another album.

My immediate reaction was "holy shit holy shit holy shit", followed quickly by "...but I wish they'd announce albums a reasonable time in advance like other bands".

But yes, it's Radiohead, of course I ordered the special edition thing just like I did with In Rainbows. No idea what to expect but I guess that's part of the fun. We'll find out on Saturday.

I think what was going on was, Thom was getting tired of touring and wanted to raise his family. I know the other members were busy with a lot of side projects, especially Greenwood. There was talk of taking a long break from what I remember reading in interviews, but I don't think Thom Yorke is the sort that could ever NOT work.

Aw I thought this was a Dead Space thread.

Kidding I'm mildly enthusiastic as is appropriate for a Radiohead album.

Anyone know if they are touring with the new record? I would love to see them live, never have before.

If they are touring, totally make every effort to get a ticket. They put on amazing and really long live shows. I saw them some years ago right after HttT was released and it was a lot of fun. Got to love Thom Yorke's crazy seizure style of dancing ^^. I used to go to concerts a lot (Tori Amos, Dresden Dolls, Pearl Jam, U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers) not so much anymore.

Pre-ordering the digital copy as we speak. As much as I'd like the physical version, the vinyl is of no use to me, and I also can't afford it. My girlfriend may be getting it, though.
Does anybody know whether the digital comes with artwork? I'd love to get my hands on a Donwood wallpaper or three.

Musically, I'm hoping for something nice and dark like Hail to the Thief. But I know that Radiohead won't disappoint, whatever it is they'll come out with.

Also, eeeeeeee ^^

THIS.

I have never been to a more amazing concert than their Thunderbird Stadium show on the in Rainbows tour. To this day I still rate it as one of the best things I've ever done.

edit: ordered the digital. Can't afford the vinyl. :(

Often times, there is a reason for this. If you're an avid Radiohead fan, you'd remember the whole "101010" conspiracy thing. I am by no means an avid Radiohead fan, but I found the whole thing to be quite interesting. Check out

to learn a little more about the correlation between the time-frame for the announcement of In Rainbows. It's really neat. I'm glad some musicians take time to do more with their music than just make music. I'm glad they found a way to incorporate puzzle-solving into their records.

Ever tried building that playlist? It works astonishingly well.

Saturday can't come quick enough. I regretfully listened to live recordings of almost all of In Rainbows before it came out, so this will be my first Radiohead release that I go into with no prior knowledge (they haven't even released a track list).

I got into the band a while after Hail to the Thief came out, so just missed that one, then I was so hyped up for In Rainbows (and the recording process was so long, dammit) that I had to spoil myself and listen to any new material I could get my hands on. While I think the album is one of their best, it definitely lost it's impact on me since only Videotape and Jigsaw Falling Into Place had really changed since their shows. I only hope this one is as quality as that one, as I have been waiting oh-so patiently. My mum ordered the big version for my dad and I'm going to take the digital version on Saturday.

To be honest, I did so last night, and even setup the 10 second crossfade. I didn't even discover this until last night. I find it to be an odd coincidence that I just found out about that last night and then found out about a new Radiohead album this morning. They've effectively taken over my life for 2 consecutive days.

I'm just gonna sprint to the local audio shop, first thing in the morning, and hope they have it.

I'm a huge RH fangirl and I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't heard of the Ok Compie and In Rainbows track mixing. I totally need to do that before the new album takes up all my free time.^^
