Konami Cancels MGS4 Launch Events Following Akihabara Attack

The recent killing spree in Tokyo's Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akihabara].

The attack took place on June 9 when 25-year-old Tomohiro Kato drove a two-ton truck into a large crowd milling around the popular comics and electronics district, injuring three people. He then left the vehicle and began stabbing people randomly, killing seven and wounding seven more. In a later interview with police, according to Wired [http://blog.wired.com/games/2008/06/killing-spree-i.html], Kato said, "I am tired of life. I came to Akihabara to kill people. It didn't matter who they were. I came alone."

In the wake of that violence, here [http://www.konami.jp/]. (Japanese only)

Man, Electric Town is an awesome place, too... one of my favorite places to visit, lots of cool gadgets to find there... I bet those events would've been fun, they go all out in places like that...

So which game's fault is it now? Jack? Hello?? There's a case for you!
Ah stupid me, he doesn't speek genuine otaku language.

That's a sad news. Geez, that's the last thing I'd expect in such a place. However, the country is going down, approximatively like everywhere else anyway.

It's no game's fault, no need to jump on that old bandwagon. Many things get cancelled or postponed by unexpected tragedies in respect for the victims.
Maybe we need a new One to Grow On: "If life is getting you down, and you feel there is nothing more for you, leave everyone else alone and go jump off a cliff."
