Konami Opens London Branch to Learn Football

Japanese developers establish a London colony to better recreate "local football culture."

European football culture is a difficult thing to capture [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Tnak2JCskA]. It gets considerably more difficult when you're several thousand miles away and happen to be slightly Japanese, so to counteract this Konami is opening a new studio in London and is looking for talent to help it make PES - aka Pro Evolution Soccer, the sports simulation - the footie masterpiece that Konami knows it can be. The satellite team will be working exclusively on PES, and should be opening later in 2012.

"As part of Konami's commitment to ensuring PES captures the majesty of European football," says Shinji Hirano, Konami's head man, "we are looking for people to help capture the very essence of the beautiful game and bring it to life." PES Production Studio will be producing for console and PC. The whole point of the London office is to bring a European touch to what is, after all, a European game. "The new satellite office will strive to adopt and recreate local football culture that will ensure the long-running series is kept fresh and exciting," according to Konami's press release.

Konami is actively looking for people to join its London team. Interested parties should look Konami up at GDC Europe in August this year. Don't forget to bring your CV if you intend to seek it out giving the ref helpful suggestions and so forth. [http://www.gdceurope.com/]

If they are going to try and capture football culture will they include the fans chanting (the full) version of "who ate all the pies" and other chants calling the referees parentage into question?

You forgot the large number of fat middle age bald blokes eating burgers on the way to the ground and all the posh boys putting on fake accents and pretending to be proper 'rad nuts.

So, after you finish your football match, the game turns into a third person brawler against supporters of the other team and riot police?
