In January 12th, to celebrate Castlevania's 35th anniversary, Konami put in auction several memorial NFTs of Castelvania images, artwork and animations.

I think NFTs are a very appropriate way to celebrate the anniversary of a series inspired by a blood-sucking vampire.

Are... are they actually selling this exact image? Please tell me "no". By all that is good and holy, please tell me "no".

Or they could’ve made a new game to celebrate its 35th anniversary
Aw, c'mon. Isn't their pachinko department already overworked?

...oh, wait, you meant an actual video game. Ha ha ha ha. Oh, man, that's a good one!

I didn't have any expectations and yet I'm still disappointed with Konami.

Seriously, why is anyone paying money for JPEGS?

Its even better then a jpeg. When you buy an nft you are buying an nft, not the image that sold you the nft. You are buying the address in a database.

They aren't paying for the JPEGS; they are paying for the NFTs (which are fancy digital receipts that can be resold for a higher value). NFTs are a combo of speculative derivatives and digital bragging rights.

Well technically I did once when I commissioned someone to create me a custom signature image for a different forum. Somehow this feels different to that.
