Konami's NeverDead Resurfaces in Time for E3
After a year of very little info, Konami's revealing new details about NeverDead, and boy does it sound nuts.
Konami's NeverDead <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/102946-Konamis-NeverDead-is-Immortal-Dismemberment-Katamari>accumulated a lot of interest last summer when it was announced at E3. Unfortunately, little has been revealed about the game, until now. While Konami will undoubtedly have an update later this week when it has its pre-E3 press conference, some new information's come to light thanks to a preview over at Famitsu.
The site introduces us to the game's primary cast, as well as just how ridiculously over the top the game is. The basic premise has players controlling an immortal named Bryce Boltzmann who kills demons for beer money (seriously, that's what it says). Because of his immortality, Bryce can do things like light himself on fire so he can shoot flame shots or throw his own body parts as weapons. Here's the official cast list, as provided by Andriasang:
Bryce Boltzmann
An immortal demon hunter who is employed by NADA, a group that covers up recent demon attacks that have afflicted the city. He spends his days killing off demons to collect beer money.
Arcadia
An investigator with NADA. She overseas demon hunters, but does not appear to be too fond of being in charge of Bryce.
Alex
Like Bryce, demon hunter Alex has the Evil Eye, which is a sign of immortality. However, it is rumored that he is not fully immortal.
Niki
A charismatic idol who's half Indian and half American. She meets Bryce following a certain incident.
NeverDead is being developed by Rebellion, the developer that put out last year's <a href=http://www.amazon.com/Aliens-vs-Predator-Xbox-360/dp/B001TOQ8MU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1306969664&sr=8-1>Aliens vs. Predator, and produced by Shinta Nojiri, who has produced games like Metal Gear Aci!d in the past. I'll need to see the game in action before I cast an official opinion on it, but it's hard to not grin a little when I think about playing as a character who isn't afraid to beat something to death with his dismembered arm in order to get ahold of a little beer money.
