KOTOR - How to kill Darth Malak?

WARNING SPOILERS

I'm at the final battle (At least, I think it is) where Darth Malak absorbs the life forces from the other Jedi. I assume you have to destroy the Jedi, but I have no useful (I think) dark-side force powers, I am using Rifles and Heavy Armour. The game is on the default difficulty. I'm stumped, any help? Thanks in advance!

Edit: Added Force Powers!

- Heal
- Burst of Speed
- Energy Resistance
-------------------
- Dominate Mind
- Statis Field
- Afflication
- Horror
- Shock
- Force Push

...why are you using ranged weapons >.<

anywho, here are my tips for it:

Before the convo with him starts, pump yourself up with every single type of booster you have. Zoom through the convo with him real fast to start the fight. Do as best you can. When you get low, run around in circles on the second floor, and stay close to the edges when you turn the corners. As Malak follows you, he will sometimes get stuck on the geometry while trying to get to you, allowing you to turn around and take a few potshots til he gets unstuck and comes after you. Rinse and repeat til' he dies.

Once he starts sucking the force out of dudes, either trap him on the geometry THEN kill the guys, or just let him kill all the guys himself and eventually he'll go down.

Hope this helps :)

EDIT: I can't remember if you attack the jedi who are suspended, or if you just walk up to them and click on them and they die automatically. But there's some way to interact with them to destroy them.

See, this is the one thing I really hated about KOTOR. There are very few abilities that can free the Jedi, and if you don't build them you get to eat shit.

Well, do you have Throw Lightsaber? I think that works, along with Supress Force(or whatever the neutral debuff was called).

If you have neither, well... I hope you've stockpiled some adhesive grenades, because you're going to have to tough it out.

Hmm, guess I probably will have to beat him the hard way (D:<), and as I said I'm using guns so don't have Throw Lightsaber.

Damn, going to be a long night.

As I recall, the damage/disable/destroy Droid powers work REALLY well against the pods containing the disabled Jedi.

I just lightsabered him down and healed when he healed. Also saving each time he goes to heal.

I'm sorry I can't be more help. Only used a ranged weapon once, during the training mission.

My favourite way was to max my lightsabers skill as a darkside guardian using a dual lightsaber. Could kill him in one round of combat if I got some lucky rolls :D

Your way sounds needlessly difficult to me... can you shoot them? since you have ranged? I myself never used ranged but the best way to beat him with force powers was to just run around and kill/ neutralize all the jedi before you fought Malak.

I remember when I played that there is pratically no way to go toe to toe with him, he will rip your jaw off and use it as his own the metal faced fuck :D
How I always beat him was that I ran around (and since your faster than him) once you gain some distance spin around and blast him with any ranged attack you had (I always had fully upgraded force lightning) grenades and shit help too.
When he starts draining energy from the Jedi... Well I can't remember if you can destroy them or not, I usually just let him drain them all and kept wearing him down.
He's not particularly hard as long as you have a fair few stimpaks, but he takes a good 10-20 minutes to beat :)
hope this helps

Pray that you have a lot of Life Support Packs, especially if you don't have the Destroy Droid / use armour. The fight takes a while without being able to destroy the Jedi, but it's definitely possible; that said I've never played a gunslinging Jedi before, so I get the feeling it'll be more difficult for you.

Good luck with the fight.

Lightsabers =/= OP. I had no problem playing a gunslinger jedi.

Powers please?
Um, just checked and I have

- Heal
- Burst of Speed
- Energy Resistance
-------------------
- Dominate Mind
- Statis Field
- Afflication
- Horror
- Shock
- Force Push

I don't think any of these affect the Jedi, although I am not sure.

i onehitted the guy
saberstaff+force speed+every booster+sneak attack 3 or 4+crit
which is good because i too had no powers to destroy the jedi
on my second playthrough i just sucked the life out of them, waaaaaay more fun.

what force powers do you have? and if you have speed boosters i think you can outrun him and take a life support kit.

btw if you just finished the game now did you know about the plot twist towards the end before starting the game?

I believe shock will fix that problem, it works in a similar way Destroy Droid works. If I remember correctly, you won't be able to do anything to the jedi husks until after he drains the first one.

Preps for battle:
Cast and recast Burst of Speed. Keep it constant.
Cast and recast Energy Resistance for when you start shooting at him. Energy related shields will work as well.
When HP gets down to 1/3, use medkit, try to keep your health up otherwise with Heal.

After he restores, avoid him. Run up and down the platforms until you have some serious distance between him. When you feel you're ready, shock the bodies one at a time. He can't do anything because you have the burst of speed, and the more you run around the more you regain force points! If you run out of FP, just run around more, at this point you should have some serious distance on Malak that you can maintain throughout this period. Once all the bodies are finished, you will finally be able to fight Malak without fear of his cheating ass. Just remember to keep Burst of Speed maintained! That is your lifeblood as a ranged gunner since it will keep distance as well as fire more rapidly (especially if you use the Rapid Fire feat), so while he's running to get at you, you'll be dishing out the punishment! Eventually, he will go down, but it will take a lot of running and patience from you. Remember to keep your energy resistant shields/powers active as well. Maintaining all of these stat boosters is what will earn you a victory.

Hope this was helpful!

EDIT: I forgot to add that as a soldier/guardian, it is vital that you limit your force usage.

Priorities:
1. Burst of Speed
2. Shock (until the bodies are through)
3. Heal
4. Energy Resistance

Energy Resistance is last because maintaining your HP during the battle is more important since you already have shields to boost that stat. Burst of Speed will be your main companion through this, and once the bodies are done, you don't need to worry about shock anymore!
