I wasn't really sure whether I should post this here or gaming discussion, but I figured I'm looking for advice and not looking to discuss the game in detail, so this thread will go in here.
So, I bought L.A Noire from GameStop today. It was a used copy (saved me five euros, go figure) and it didn't even have a manual. =( So anyways, I came home and I popped the game in, and it wouldn't install. It goes into the install screen, but then does nothing. I can press the PS button to see the interface and stuff, but the game itself goes nowhere.
I tried to quit the game, but the PS3 beeped three times and rebooted after a while. I tried again, and it froze at the install screen. Again, the install progress bar doesn't fill up at all. This time around the game quits just fine. I noticed a 41 KB install file in the game data folder, and deleted it. No fix.
I then tried creating another user, and turned off all of my online settings. (NOTE: My PS3 had not been hooked online, but I still tried this) No different. So I figured maybe I need to patch it up before installing it. I hooked up the PS3 to my interned cable, and it asks me to update the game as I start it up. It finds the patch, and when I hit "X" it says "Wait..." or something, trying to initialize the download. Then it just crashed and rebooted.
If I can't get it fixed, I'll have to take an hour long drive to a fairly crowded city tomorrow, and hope I can just pay them five euros for a new copy. Any advice to fix it now would be appreciated.
