I'm curious, I keep hearing people say that LA Noire is "incomplete" and you need to buy multiple versions from different places to get the full game. Now from my research only Gamestop offers new cases, while everyone else offers clothing. So what's the big deal?
Gamestop offers one case, and another place offers another. (I think it was Best Buy, but it might have been Wal-Mart or something).

Gamestop's is a murder, and the other one is just a traffic case. So...no idea what those people were going on about.
And yet I doubt we'll see this get 0-bombed on metacritic like Portal 2 was. Which is stupid, since this is actually CONTENT-based day one DLC and Portal 2's was just cosmetic.
Probably because LA Noire's DLC isn't because they cut content from the game to sell it later. They cut content because they couldn't get it to fit on the disk.

It's three disks on the X360, and takes the full 25GB PS3 disk. The reason they didn't want two disks for the PS3 is because it was originally developed for the PS3 and it was just ported over to the 360.

Edit: It was mentioned somewhere that LA Noire will have DLC for that reason, which is what I'm referring to mostly, not the preorder bonuses. Also, the preorder cases will be available (Probably for purchase) on Xbox Live/PSN at some point.

I read about it in GI, and absolutely loved the idea. I'm sure others have done the same.

It'll sell fine. This website is a testament to that. Most people with over 1000 posts (which is more than a few) have said they're going to get it, and if I know anything about people, it's that if one person says something, another 10 are thinking it.

I am afraid the game will not sell ENOUGH to make the develepment worth it.
Hardcore Sandbox fans:No
hardcore Shooter fans: probably not.
Hardcore Rpg And Jrpg fans:probably not.
I only named some of the bigger genres.

Im afraid If La noirse faills developers will be too afraid to try new things

Edit: i Mean it Probably wont be Respected for what it is many will probably trade it in
*Cough*kids*cough*
hey, I WOULD buy it but its not on PC so whos fault is that?

anyway people arnt THAT set in their ways...I mean western games werent a huge thing and then there was RDR (oh and rockstar...seriously I WANT RED DEAD REDEMPTION!!)

I think it will sell very well...

But many children will be incredibly disappointed in how "boring" it is...

This may be my fanboyism speaking here, but LA Noire is going to be game of the year. I can almost guarantee it.
Okay, no. Its good, I will give you that. Very very good, on any other year it would sweep the GOTYs. But 2011? This year? No, Uncharted 3 has that in the bag.
Wow sir, tell me where you get your games from the future!
Uncharted 3? Please, Skyrim has it locked and sealed, a game that has been anticipated practically since 2006.

Uncharted is a copy paste tomb raider meets every third person shooter with a kinda cool story.

Skyrim is part of the elder scrolls series, a open world RPG genre definer.

Its gonna win if it delivers even a QUARTER of what it promises

OT: Honestly the big put off for me is that the facial animations, while heavily advertized, look like worse shit then bioware plastic face so I really wont be going for it
Is it necessary to be so hostile and fanboyish? I said both games would be excellent, just Uncharted 3 will be a bit more excellent.

I could have talked about how the Elder Scrolls series is simply a by the numbers ripoff of the Ultima series minus the interesting mythos of the main character, any real consequence of anything you do in the games, or a character who doesn't look like a wax dummy someone keeps periodically kicking, whereas Uncharted is what happens when Tomb Raider is made by great designers, and Uncharted 2 has become recognised as THE BEST Action Adventure game ever made with superb characterisation and writing, but I chose not to, instead keeping it civil.

How about this - Skyrim will be the best PC game of the year, while Uncharted 3 will be the best Ps3 game (even though Skyrim comes out on Ps3, meaning its not as good as Uncharted 3.)
You never mentioned skyrim in that post so no you didn't for one.

For two lul what? Ultima and The elder scrolls are different brands of RPG, do your research next time

For three I'd love to see where god stated "And thus Uncharted, despite being a meh clone, is the best action adventure game of all time" because almost everyone i know said it was fun but nothing genre defining. So before you start saying that something is TEH BEST you might want to either bring a source or realize that your statement was entirely opinion.

For four You do know that when we say GOTY, we mean GAME OF THE YEAR, across all. Because not only is uncharted crippled by being cheap and only staying on one system its also, again, not going to be so great that it wins GOTY. Its not fair really, uncharted is a game series of appeal that has managed to do well but putting it up against the always winning elder scrolls is like putting up a guy with a knife to a guy with a shotgun. If the knife guy is lucky he might do damage but the shotgun tends to win.

If it sells 2 million copies on then it paid for it's production. It will probably sell around 4-5 million before a price drop occurs. I wouldn't worry too much.

Well, Heavy Rain wasn't really aiming for anyone, and sold well, considering the fact that the plot had more holes than a Taun-Taun surrounded by a bunch of Russians on a Siberian nudist gulag.

And this actually looks a bit old-school point and click mixed with True Crime. Which means it'll probably be good, besides the fact it'll probably throw pedestrians under my car and deduct me for it.

Well, not really. This game has been in production for quite some time, I think its pretty expensive.
I am pretty sure its cost was right around 60 million. 2 million copies throws more than enough to cover that back at the publishers/investors. I suspect it will do that many sales in the first month pretty easy. It may need 3 million after shipping costs and all that jive but all said and done, I expect it to do 4-5 million sales in the first month of its release. I think this game is going to sell around 8 million copies before the price gets reduced though. I bet that only takes 3 months to pull it in.

I think it is gonna be successful based on everything I know about it. All the fence sitters afraid of buying the hype will find out that the game is good when it is getting praised by everyone and then it will get a second wave of buyers. Both waves are a pretty large group of people.

I think it is going to be successful and I am gonna be happy I preordered and had been playing since day 1.

After how glorious RDRedemption was I'm definitely going to pick this game up.

If it's crap, Rock Star will have to regain my trust again (I haven't enjoyed a GTA game since Vice City, and didn't even bother buying GTA 4).

Funny, Rockstar trying to make a story heavy game is exactly why I don't care for this game at all.
Wasn't Red Dead Redemption a story-heavy game? Just an honest question, but how did you feel about that one?
perfect example.....love rockstar games...for some reason couldnt get into GTA4...i like it, but just couldnt get into it for some reason, but still on my list of games to complete. On the same note, loved the expansions for it, but same thing....red dead? i didnt think it would do great, even though i loved the cencept....lol love me some old westerns, and trust me i've put many hours into it....this game is gonna do great, better than great even....you have your friends, that every time your online you see em playing COD(whatever) which i love, and then you have your Rock Band friends....Halo...L4D...ETC....but ive always seen these people dabble in a sandbox game...its hard not to, especially if you bring something new to the table...top seller is what i'd stamp on L.A Noire, there not gonna be hurting from it's sales

I agree, i want this game bad, but its only coming out on consoles i dont have, and the usual console spazzes probably dont like having to think to earn their SS rank 1337 high scores. it should really be a pc game, as they are usually more inclined to play adventure/mystery games

Ah, but you're forgetting that the development costs were actually not that high, as there was almost to animation programming going into the faces. That's where a lot of resources in game development go nowadays, thanks to the Uncanny Valley; once the engine and the camera rooms were made, no more money pit into that monster.

The proprietary technology invented for this game will make Rockstar more money than the game itself will, and let's not forget that big Microsoft bribe in the form of exclusive DLC which paid the entire development costs of GTA 4...everything after that was cream.

So, I don't think they'll be hurting much, even if the game doesn't sell.

But it will, because everyone loves Philip Marlowe.
Philip Marlowe isn't in L.A. Noire...
No...no, he's not. But it's essentially a Philip Marlowe game, a la Philip Marlowe: Private Eye.

Rockstar have become one of those company that doesn't release bad games. Even if a few hate one or two of there titles.
Plus, I'm playing L.A. Noire now nad I'm really enjoying it.
My only gripe is that I would have liked it if it were in Los Santos so as to keep a constant continuity between there games. But I doubt anyone else cares about that.

I think I'm quite a bit into the game and have only two gunfights, which I found surprising. I expecting it to be as violent as GTA. It's a good game and shows that Rockstar obviously research what they base there games on.

It sold 550k copies the first day off pre-orders. It is already projected to make 3-4 million sales as a low end by some sites and 4-5 high end.
