I'd say get it. I have both L4D and L4D 2 and the sequel is FAR better.

Judging it apart from the the firs tone, it is a an excellent standalone game. If it were released as it is, instead of L4D it would have received far better reviews, sadly the reviewers took some points off of it for being a fast sequel release.

If you never played the first then just buy the second. I hear that the second is atlest marginaly better in every single way.

Personaly though, No Mercy was such a good map, and it should be in the second.

Left 4 Dead 2!!!! DOOO EEETT! I love the L4D series, and my favorite being L4D2. It's worth every penny, I've played through all the campaigns in under a week...but that's not a problem now is it? Because I can go online and spend years of my life playing and never get bored :)

Well the second one is superior to the first in every single way. If you're unsure try the demo, and if you like it, there's no reason not to buy it.
How about the fact that it's a full game's worth of price for what is, really, an expansion pack?

Don't get it, honestly. If you played the first game, imagine it with a chainsaw and some zombies that ride you like a cowboy and you've played Left 4 Dead 2.

Except that, with no previous expierece with the left 4 dead series, you would be getting a game and an "expansion pack" (cough) worth of content for the price of one.

Yes, it is awesome.

Go visit bill gates. The toilet paper is made of 100 dollar bills.

And this thread has really veered off. He hasnt bought L4D1, so 2 is a definite yes, based on what I hear. Whether or not its an upgrade, its still a decent game that will kill some hours and brain cells. Go pick it up.

Don't bother. Where zombies are involved, it's never worth money. Download a cracked version and play it over LAN.
Psssst... encouraging people to pirate is angrily glared at around here.

L4D 2 was amazingly fun. It's the only game I actually play online with other people because playing as a zombie is worth settling for the tards who start swearing at you and try to kick you because you have better things to do then memorize every damned level and know all the flanking and ambush areas... like kissing members of the opposite sex. I just turn on the sound effects really loud and lower the mic sound xD

L4D2 is some of the most fun I have ever had with a video game. And considering the infinite replayability (I never seem to get tired of it), it's also the best value, per dollar, of any video game I have ever bought in my life.

You would be a fool not to buy it, IMO.

I don't like Valve. I think their games are substandard, and I don't know why they are seen as holy gods of gaming. So if I've been spoiled by them at any point, then this is the first I've heard of it.

Left 4 Dead 2 does not have 'plenty' of new content. Different characters don't count as new conent, since they change absolutely nothing. New uncommon zombies aren't really new content, since they're just variations on current ones. New weapons, and general weapon diversity I'll grant you are new content, and the Frying Pan is the single best weapon in any zombie game in existence, but I'll be damned if I'll pay $109AUD so I can use a SCAR-H instead of an M16. And, lets face it, everything 'new' in Left 4 Dead 2 really should have shipped with Left 4 Dead 1. L4D2 is a dickmove, pure and simple.
What about the entirely new multyplayer mode, 5 completely new maps (more then what is in L4D1 including DLC), the new special infected, improved graphics and Director AI that can now actually change the path you have to take through the level, new take on the crescendo events from the first game.

Of course, Valve has admitted that they where rushed to get L4D out the door due to publisher constraints and weren't able to do everything with it that they wanted. L4D2 is basically what the developers had intended the original to be plus a bunch more.

P.S. I'm sorry that you Aussies get so badly fucked over in your prices and I can see how that might effect how you feel about this game, but here in the States it's more than worth the $60 USD.

If you have a friend to play it with then you will have more fun than eating cake.

Single player it is still quite good.

Have you even played it? Because you're sounding like one of the L4D boycotters, no offense. Besides, it's something like five expansion packs rolled together...which can easily make a full game.

OP: I recommend it, but only if you have at least two friends who also have it. It's way more fun with multiple people who actually listen to you.

Buy it, but not at full price, I got it for £19 (36USD) from an HMV in St Albans, UK. Initially, I was waiting for it to drop 50%, but I managed to save that £4 somewhere else, so I got L4D2.
