Mmm, Say Anything has been, in my opinion, the greatest Alt. Rock band in at least 6 years.

Emo is the herpies of the music industry. Everytime I hear one of those emo songs I just wanna smack someone. Seriously, i've NEVER heard of a bad with such a stupid name as some of those emo bands. Hell, i've never heard of MANY of those bands that fall under the genre.

Emo killed Punk so it deserves to die.

I swear i'm going to lose my head if another band names themselves something like "Say Anything".

Once again, South Park said it best in the last episode of the latest season. Those vampire kids are not goth or dark in any way AND neither is Emo music.
Oh my god, I almost died. Someone who listens to The Killers is saying Say Anything is emo. bahahahahahaha The Killers are true punk, huh bro?

Now I've seen it all, I can go in peace.

For the record, listen to anything pre-In Defense of the Genre (specifically Baseball) and you will find SA is one of the most punk bands that ever lived.

Max Bemis is God.

Hmmm, well, some songs by my favorite band, Clutch, I suppose could be considered kind of "classic rock"-sounding. Especially their later stuff, albums like Robot Hive/Exodus and From Beale Street to Oblivion. Here are songs you might like -

The Incomparable Mr. Flannery [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xh7pqoO9NLU&feature=related]

Burning Beard [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-s7P6s0YXGk&feature=related]

Electric Worry [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kx6FV2qR2TY&feature=related]

Opossum Minister [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCHSTxqRPiU]

And they're right up there when it comes to meaning and lyrical integrity. All the lyrics for their songs are listed on their website (http://pro-rock.com/v6/main.html). I don't pretend to understand it all, but just take a look.

I'm sorry to use a tired old cliché, but Punk is not dead >:|

Sure, it ain't as mainstream as it was during... say the '77 era, but it's still alive and kicking, you just need to know where to look...
The real question is...do I want to find it?

But of course you do... But you might want to cover your nose first...
And when do you find it, who says you're gonna like it?

Like I said earlier, the 60's 70's and 80's are over. And that SUCKS.

I recently heard a band Apocalyptica, but i can't seem to find any albums or anything like it.

I don't know how to describe it,but does anyone know any bands like Apocalyptica or the Trans Siberian Orchestra? Bands that take Classical and put in a very modern spin.

Agreed. I'll give you Emo kids something to cry about!

Go for the Voodoo Glow Skulls, and Fugazi. You'll enjoy those bands!

Hang on, what if he just doesn't like rap? I only listen to one or two genres of metal, not because i have narrow taste, but because it's the only music i like. I can't help it, i've tried to 'broaden my horizons', but i don't like anything else. I hate it when people say stuff like this, people can't help what music they like, they can't force themselves to like other music.

They use orchestral instruments to play covers of crappy rock and metal songs. It's not classical in any sense of the word.
That's not entirely true. They started just doing metallica covers, but they right loads of their own stuff now. Listen to their albums 'Cult' and 'Worlds Collide'.

Exactly, and I live in Downtown Chicago, so it couldn't any more forced on than it already is, and I refuse to give in to that "Gansta" bull shit.

Anything that can hold a guitar is in, even country can pass, but now I'm currently listening to Linkin Park, Dave Matthews, Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco, and a tiny bit of Avenged Sevenfold.

So I guess I'll call it a plethora
The way you complain about the music being put out now, then the music you say you listen to... I think you need to broaden your horizons unfortunately.
Go last.fm and sign up, it will introduce yourself to new music.
Once you do, add me (my last.fm profile is on my profile here) and I will more than happily introduce you to a shit load of new artists you will never heave heard of.

I'm going to start recommending everyone to Last.fm

I listened for 20 minutes, found 4 new bands that sound great and 5 or 6 songs I've never heard from bands I already like.

A wise man once told me "You can't spell Crap without Rap." but serously, what can you do than ignore it? Even though I absoultly hate Rap, there are a lot of people who do like it and are not going to stop liking it because you hate it...

I'm not trying to start a revolution against rap. It's just my opinion, and no matter how vulgar or obtuse, I'm entitled to it.

I love 80s music. When pop & rap were all the rage in 1998 & the only thing a singer needed was looks & zero talent, I started listening to music from other countries, partly because I hate love songs & that's pretty much all anyone sings about.

I like rock & techno from Japan, Korea, Russia, Romania, Sweeden, & to a lesser degree, some German Metal, Mexican Mariachi, & Jamaican Reggae (can't understand a word they say). The UK has good techno, as long as they don't sing in it (okey, so that makes it trance). & back in the 90s, Korea had GOOD hip-hop & pop, but that went bye-bye in 2001. I miss Synthpop! Bring it back! ;_;

Rap is not music to me because there is no actual singing. If they were singing, it would be hip-hop. Hip-Hop is music & Rap isn't. Don't care for Country either.

Hey, everyone has the right to an opinion.

Unfortunately, it's opinions like this that make people like me question the wisdom of rights like those.

Broaden your fucking horizons.

I personally think there's gold and there's shit in every genre of music, therefore i agree that the writer of the OP should "Broaden your fucking horizons".
