Latest Saints Row 4 DLC Stars Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin'? Cast

Add Borderlands 2 lead writer Anthony Burch, voice of Tiny Tina Ashly Burch, and fan favorite Papa Burch to your crew as homies.

Fans of the surreal comedy web series Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin'? know that siblings Anthony and Ashly Burch are big fans of the Saints Row series. Saints Row: The Third has been the subject of sketches [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egNGa41tRac]. Now, that relationship has gone to the next level, with Ash, Anthony, and their father Papa Burch available as homies for your crew in Saints Row IV. The Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin' DLC pack was released on Steam yesterday for $2.99 USD.

Anthony Burch talked about the new DLC pack on the official Hey Ash, Whatch' Playing? blog [http://www.heyash.com/we-are-a-saints-row-iv-dlc/#singleHeader]. After meeting some Volition employees at the Penny Arcade Expo and E3, the idea for the adding the Burches as homies in the game was born. As Burch describes it:
ome dudes at Volition thought it might be cool to do a Hey Ash pack. "We were talking about stuff we could do," one of them told me, "and somebody suggested a Hey Ash pack and our producer turned around in his chair, deleted what we'd previously slated for December, and just said, 'I typed it in the spreadsheet. We're doing that now.'"
I have literally no idea why they would think this was a good idea, but we decided not to stop them.
The Burch family voices the characters, and a Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin'-style trailer starring Ashly Burch [http://store.steampowered.com/app/247302/] accompanied the release of the DLC. The dialog for the characters was written by Volition, and includes the line "Look out shorty, hit that dinosaur with your dildo laser!" from a Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin' episode. The characters also wear Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin' merchandise.

Anthony Burch is a former games journalist and currently works at Gearbox Software. He co-starred in the web series How Games Saved My Life [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/anthony-saves-the-world]. She is also the voice of the Borderlands 2 character Tiny Tina.

This is obviously one of those things I didn't know I needed until it existed...

As cool as this is, I just don't feel any need to pick SR4 up again. It was one of those rare sandbox games where after you're done with it you feel like you've actually completed it.

I had the same feeling from it. The finale actually felt final- going back in at it, even with a new game, just feels like... if at the end of the Matrix trilogy, everyone just decided to head back into the shattered matrix just to faff about.

Once I finally get SR4 it will be very difficult to not buy this DLC. With as bonkers as the SR series has become, adding in the Burch folks seems like a natural fit.

Oh, I'm planning on getting the game at Christmas. But I can't see myself picking this DLC up. If I did then it would be pretty much entirely for Papa Burch.

I fired up SRIV last night after it gathered some dust on my shelf for a bit along with a few other new games we got at insane discounted prices... Well damn this game for being fun. Damn it all to hell and damn it for making DLC I want.
