League of Legends' Newest Champion is Lucian, the Purifier

Lucian is a highly mobile ranged carry who "obliterates evil with righteous power."

The latest addition to the increasingly beefy League of Legends roster will be a new ranged carry: Lucian, the Purifier. Lucian has a very Christian Bale from Equilibrium [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equilibrium_(film)] vibe going on, and excels at pummeling opponents with quick shots, relentless dashes and a barrage of light-infused bullets. He's currently being prepped to be released with the next League of Legends patch, along with a rework of everyone's favorite spider-eyed samurai: Master Yi.

Lucian's abilities are as follows:

Lightslinger (passive) - After using one of his abilities, Lucian's next auto attack shoots twice. The second shot deals reduced damage.
Piercing Light - Shoots a bolt of light through a target, damaging enemies in a line.
Ardent Blaze - Fires a shot that explodes in a star pattern and marks targets. Shooting marked targets grants Lucian a short burst of speed.
Relentless Pursuit - Lucian dashes a short distance and removes all slowing effects. Relentless Pursuit's cooldown resets if The Culling kills an enemy champion.
The Culling (Ultimate) - Lucian moves freely while firing rapidly in a single direction, dealing damage to the first enemy hit. Lucian can cast Relentless Pursuit while shooting.


A highly-mobile ranged damage dealer, Lucian punishes enemies for straying too close. Once teamfights break out, Relentless Pursuit enables him to quickly escape unfavorable situations and kite pursuing opponents, or skirt around the enemy team to single out priority targets.

This news accompanies the release of patch 3.9 [http://na.leagueoflegends.com/news/patch-39-notes], which while not containing Lucian, does offer some considerable tweaks to Draven, LeBlanc and Shyvana.

If I could abuse the stupid for free money I sure as hell would, can't blame them even if I hate Riot as a company.

I suppose as long as they are interesting to play as and against I can't complain too much. Just some interesting art design every now and again shouldn't be too much too ask.

Kinda reminds me of Quinn, very mobile carry with assasination potential, but if they don't give him a significant attack speed or damage steroid other than his passive, I don't think he'll be all that significant late game.

He seems great but that Relentless Pursuit seems a bit much, especially since he can cast it while he is using his ult. He looks like fun, can't wait to try him out, it's been a long time since we had a purely ADC champion out. Before anyone says Quinn, her kit seems better suited for mid lane.

Black guy with dreadlocks and holy guns? Fucking. AWESOME. Lots of "damage in a line", looks like he'd work well with a Rumble, Orianna, or Sona. He already has an escape, so it all boils down to his scaling and his autoattack range, as with all carries. If he's not Draven-Sivir tier of range, his passive looks amazing for poke. Can't wait to try him out.

I briefly thought this characters weapons were in fact, bible guns, made from bibles stacked into some sort of harness.

I was very disappointed to find out they were magical light pewpewpew stone things, because now I can't scream BIBLE FIGHT every time he makes a kill.

They actually aren't that similar at all. Quinn has some of the worst mobility in team fights out of the AD's. She has short range, a very unreliable escape in her E (only effectively kites one person, can screw yourself if you E as someone CCs, can't go over terrain) and her Ultimate is only good for disengaging. Lucian is going to have very good team fight mobility; he has a movement steroid that refreshes itself, a reliable resetable escape that frees you from any movement speed effects, has medium range and most of all a long range ultimate that isn't interrupted by movement or his E.

His passive and ultimate makes up for not having a steroid. The problem with Quinn's passive is it is clunky, unreliable and uncontrollable, this is not the case with Lucian. He should have a strong team fight presence that scales well but hyper carries should still outscale him late game as his ultimate wont scale with crit.

Throwing bibles at someone can only be complemented by also throwing bayonets at them too.

What does this dude have in common with Magina? I'm not seeing it.

They look kinda similar with the skin, collar and hair. Purifier and Anti-Mage also have a kinda similar tone to them.
