I like the part when they say "I can spend my money as I see fit" as if that's a special feature "Holy shit! I get to choose what I spend my money on!? THANKS MICROSOFT!!!"
I found the entire thing degrading, but that part took the mick. "Buying things makes everything better!" came a close second - shows where Microsoft's vision for the future of gaming really lies :/

I of cource don't mean this in a good way, mit looks like Microsoft gave up on gamers and is moving on to moms and ten year olds.

WHY!?

I guess they're just not going to try and take Steam's crown off them. Pretty soon, if statistics are to be believed, over half of all purchases for PC will be done through Steam. If Microsoft can appeal to the other side of the market, whilst maybe offering a few token nicities to those of us who might play the odd casual game, then the two could co-exist. It may not be all to our tastes, but I admire them for their tactics. I still think though that "hardcore" PC gaming as we know it should have a central hub, and my vote goes to Steam. In fact, I think all retail releases should include Steam as DRM, then we wouldn't need anything else, and retail won't become insignificant to those of us who still like a physical copy.

With Steam, GoGs and Impulse I find it hard to care. Microsoft already abandoned serious PC gaming.

This is seriously disappointing. It's depressingly clear that Microsoft's interests lie in profit, not the PC gaming community, and they seem to have decided that Facebook and the Wii were far too profitable ventures for them to miss out on.

perfect video.

This seems ripe for 4Chan to really rally against, If anything is going to get their attention it's this, I wonder how hard they'll come down on Microsoft.

What does it matter, we're all going to keep using steam.
When Microsoft completes this abomination they'll probably release many PC games that use it exclusively.
But they'll be games made by microsoft - when was the last time they made anything worth spending cash on for the PC?

Then again, they do have the Halo IP to milk :/

I can't even fathom what this thing is supposed to be...

You can play Farmville and Social Network on Windows? Because all the web based platforms didn't let you do that? What, you just have to cope with GFWL in order to do it? And then you can hang out on it with all the people who had to install it to play Fallout 3 and Arkham Asylum? Cause, I mean, they didn't have to restart their games three or four times to get that sorted out, so they probably just love it to pieces.

I bet Zuckerberg is just pissing himself in fear right now. Steve Jobs is feeling a chill through his omnipresent black turtle neck.

As long as they don't force us to pay extra for these features that most of us probably won't use, I don't see what the big deal is.

Course, since it's Microsoft they probably will charge us all extra for it. Sigh.

Um...so nothing will change? Cause last I checked this was the direction PC gaming was going towards...since like facebook and myspace were made so many years ago...

when a sector of the gaming arena called PC gaming is already dominated by MMO's and flash portal social website games...then complaining about a direction it already took is quite lame.
PC gamers need to wake up...""Casuals"" have outnumbered ""core"" gamers 2000/1 for a long long time, PC games was no different and such games have dominated the PC arena for a while now...

The worst part is that they are going to strap people down and force them to pay for micro-transactions and play casual games whether they want to or not. And how dare they appeal to the casual gamers anyway? They aren't even real gamers.
I certainly hope you're being sarcastic.

Windows Gaming eXperience?

WGX?!

HA! HA I say!

I'm not affected.

I use Steam, punk.

OT: The bright colors in the video are making me just a little nauseous.

Also,I think I've found the most pointless thing in the world: Posting a picture of your GFWL avatar on Facebook. What.

And the pronunciation of GWLF is now "Gawful".

So my Dead Space 2 Security Armored Avatar has a personality now?

Regardless, I don't see the problem with the ad. Microsoft just wants to allow the Xbox and the PC to sort of "Integrate"
you are aware of how awful the Xbox community is right?
allow me to mimic the calls of some of the average species of xbox gamers:
"OWNED YOU STOOPID NUB OLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLLOLLLOL"
" GODDAMNIT! I LOST ONE WHOLE POINT!"
"I'm wike twenty free you ath hole"

Or at least, that's what I hear a lot of the time.

... POwned. That made me vomit a bit. Actually this whole video did.

This is why I don't entrust my gaming experience to fucking Micro$oft. They never knew what the hell they were doing, and they still don't.
