Left 4 Dead 2 Goes Free to Play, This Weekend Only

There's a new achievement available for Left 4 Dead 2 veterans who help new players this weekend.

Left 4 Dead 2 goes free to play today in honor of the spooky season, and new players are encouraged to start downloading now. This offer will only last until Monday 10AM PDT, so if you know someone who might be interested, get them in pronto!

If you're a veteran, there's an achievement in it for you: Good Guy Nick, which will be awarded to old hands who help the new players survive a campaign. How will you know who's new and who's not? Good question, but Valve has an answer: "talk to each other to find out." Radical thinking indeed, but you could always persuade a buddy who hasn't played before to join your game.

They've done Portal free this weekend only where it was if you got it that weekend you had it forever, so it's a fair assumption.

However this L4D2 one is just the standard Steam free weekend. The article titles slightly weird, as most use the term free weekend but both are however correct.

Hating this free weekend, Versus has been flooded with fucking naaaaablets who don't even know how to bash common infected away.

Not to mention no extra servers were brought in by valve so they've all been taken by freshmeat soloing campaigns but still going online.
