Critical Praise...

A devoted fanbase...

Long ago, these four things kept the franchise alive. But then, everything changed when Nickelodeon got brain damage...

Only the Legend of Korra, the sequel series, could keep the legacy alive. But just when we needed it most, Season Two happened...

A year passed, and the fanbase and I discovered the new season, Season Three. And although the resolution was amazing, the pacing in the first few episodes was still somewhat off...

But I believe, that Season Four can save us all...

OT: I actually really liked this one, clip show or not. The villain phone call with the VAs actually returning would have made an entire season of clip shows worthwhile.

I was quite sad when I saw it was a clip episode, but when Bolin and Varrick got their turn everything was good.. soooo gooood.

I swear team were inspired from Marik's Evil Council of Doom (Yugioh Abridged) video to make that villain conference scene!
Yeah I do agreed that Varrick/ Bolin part was the best while Korra/ Asami was the least interesting out of the recaps.

I loved this episode... Despite what's been happening and did happen behind the scenes prior to this particular episode, the LoK team really made this feel like this could technically happen within the canon of the series in general... The chibi commentary, the villain conference calls, BOLIN SPIRIT(!!), and so much more really shows how the creators as well as the team are still willing to give it their all without having to do anything drastic like firing some of their overall staff...
You said it, me... Although, now that I think about it, only Tenzin stood out, for me, during the Korra portion of the episode... Not sure how I should feel about that, to be honest...

Also, this episode needed more singing... ;P

Said it on a similar thread, but it bears repeating:

All things considered, it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. Granted, I'd probably still rank this among my least favorite episodes of Korra.

It really sucks how much Nick has been jerking and screwing the Avatar folks around. It's a miracle that anything good comes forward.

But anyway, with a bit of reworking that I may or may not actually do, this song proves highly relevant:

Even before knowing this was a result of Nick dicking them around, I thought it was a pretty damn good clip show. Lots of good laughs, though the last segment is definitely my favourite. I just about lost it at the phone call scenes. Brilliant.

Basically this is the Korra version of a episode of cutthroat kitchen

"Ok your competator has paid up so you have to make a ice cream sundae with only these box of popsicles"

"Next up whoever is willing to give me the cost of a episode's worth of animation can force the other guys to try and make a decent episode using only old clips and some voice acting"

Considering what they had to work with it sounds like it didn't go as badly as it could have.

It was kind of amusing, though I still found it pointless. Only Varrick's portion seemed worth a damn, because it was taking liberties and even using old assets was still able to change it up rather than just retell what we've already seen. Seriously, an entire episode of just that would have felt like it had a better point. Oh well, it was still amusing and I don't hold it against the creators. Nick, however, is soon to lose an audience member the moment Korra is done.

Well by clip show standards it was an decent episode. Which is to say most clip shows suck. Managing be both decently entering and a clips show is an achievement. The part where Varrick was telling has absurd story is was defiantly the best part. Well almost any scene that Varrick is heavily involved in, is entertaining.

I would have much preferred an actual episode that advance the story. Of course the jackasses running Nick who cut the budget of this show are blame for this. They had to make a clip show to prevent their workers from losing their jobs, so I would say they made the right decision.

Varrick's story alone made this the third best clip show I've ever seen. Second best is the one in Excel Saga, and of course first place goes to this:

I was pissed to discover it was a clip show. Went to the wiki, found out why and I fully support the decision. It sucks that they had to resort to this, but I respect them for doing this instead of firing a bunch of people.

I normally stick to short anime (12-13 episoders) So recap episodes never really sat well with me. As much as I adore gurren lagann I didn't sit through theirs either. But everyone is praising the Varric segment so I guess Ill fastforward to that part, But im much more excited to get back on the road.

Also I loved how KLK handled its recap. Hilarious and brought us right back to the action. Thanks for reminding me of it xD

I liked it. I thought the first two segments were helpful for people who haven't seen the first couple of seasons (I.E. Me), but Varrick's Segment was the only reason to watch it. That said, it was a nice filler and breather episode, and hopeful we won't get a repeat of Nickelodeon's dip-shit attitude to everything that isn't Spongebob.

They did well with what they have, and I respect the decision to not fire a bunch of people.

I love that you thought up that show when trying describe what the creators of Korra had to do. :D
So, you think they pulled it off or do they have to turn in their cash?

Yeah it sucks they had to do a clip show but I understand why they did it, glad to see they could pull it off in the face of Nick being a bunch of pricks(again).

Varrick: "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story."

Mako: "Korra taught me how to put others before myself, because she's always doing that"

Hah! Hahahaha, yeah, good one. Good story there, not true, but hey, good story.

At first I thought Announcer Guy was going to do the whole episode, then I was disappointed when I realized that each character was going to do their own remembering. Varrick however seems to save every episode he is in and this was no exception.
