This is probably going to be a system seller for me. Damnit, i have to play each new big Zelda title almost compulsively, as they have all had a wonderous charm that never fails to stay with you long after. People seem to get stuck on the story being the same, yet these are often the very people that accept the same paper-thin and repetative stories from games such as Doom, Resident Evil and all their ilk, without understanding that the reasons for loving these games has nothing to do with the plot, it's the journey that counts. It appears that some people aren't aware of their own nostalgic hypocrisies with what they are willing to dismiss. Mario counts too, has anybody ever played a mario title for the story? Well probably some amoeba somewhere, but they only make controllers sticky and need to be supervised constantly.
Now, maybe it's the subconscious perception of "maturity" in their games, which stems back to school arguments about which was cooler for having the most blood in their chosen platform's games. Nevermind, silly mini ramble, new Zelda has been a long time coming!

...is it just me or does this just sound like Shadows of Mordor just in Zelda lands? Not that I'm complaining, Shadows of Mordor was the shit, but again...really?

Wouldn't that kinda' be like the next Pokemon game being a 3rd person melee-based action adventure where you play a crime solving Zubat stuck on an island of insane Pokemon that escaped from a mental health PokeCenter, all being lead by your nemesis, a Mr. Mime?

An you fight a seductive Roserade obsessed with plants taking over the world, a Haunter who knows your true identity and uses fear gas all the time, and... I dunno, a giant Krookodile?

...actually that sounds pretty fucking sweet. Huh. Carrying one Zelda!

This...honestly is what will probably get me to buy a Nintendo system, after having not played any Nintendo games in almost 5 years. It just looks so amazingly different, and yet true to Legend of Zelda.

I'll make the same observation others have before me, and say that this game looks a lot like a true 3-D realization of the original Legend of Zelda. In that one you could wander around and do whatever you wanted with very few restrictions; here, it seems to be the same idea, only with a shinier coat of paint around it.

I'm looking more forward to this game than I have any others in a long, long time.

This needs to be a mod.
NOW.
Someone get on this.

But yeah. On topic. I'm so hyped it isn't even funny, and I so very rarely engage in hype. I'm getting this the day it comes out, and I pray to the goddesses that it's every bit as good as I'm hoping it'll be.

I do wonder how much direction the game will have. They describe it as being very "do what you want", except, even the original Zelda had a fair bit of direction. I also wonder what the bosses will look like, and if the game even features Zelda and Ganon.
They're describing it as "do what you want" in more or less the same vein AS the original Zelda. Heck, this whole game appears to be a modern love letter to the first game. My guess is that the dungeons and such will have an ordered progression of difficulty, but you're more or less free to do them in any order you want. Or you can even skip them entirely and head straight to the final boss.

And seeing as the game has a great evil known as Calamity Ganon, one would assume that the game does indeed have Ganon in it. Even if only in name. As for Zelda, I'm assuming that the girl who wakes Link up is her, since she's done the whole telepathic-voice-in-your-head-calling-you-to-your-destiny shtick before.

You're joking but the Pokemon Company not too long ago released Detective Pikachu which featured a coffee drinking, lady wooing, detective Pikachu who solved crimes. Seriously

OT: I'm really excited for this game.

I missed the part about Calamity Ganon. Least that's that.

And I guess what I'm getting at is, how much content will be locked behind unlockable skills? In previous Zeldas, the only thing blocking a player from going to point B before point A was the fact that point B requires an item from point A.

I wonder how much of that will be featured in this game? With how the progression works, I feel like the game allowing you to skip to the last boss would be pretty weird, considering in theory you could just skip forward, grab a powerful weapon and then simply win.
Dunno how progression will be affected, but from what I've seen my guess is that the longer you play and the more stuff you find, the more powerful you become and the easier things are. So the progression is locked behind a series of Beef Gates. Presumably only skilled and/or insane players will rush the final boss fight at the beginning. Considering I've seen a lot of people die to the starting enemies during the press coverage, I think that's more or less how it's gonna play out.

I was already fucking sold on the idea of being like a more expansive 3D equivalent to the first Zelda game for the NES... Seeing gameplay, alone, excelled that feeling to the point of probably buying both Wii U and NX versions of the same, which I haven't done that [deliberately/planned out that way, anyway] since Rayman Legends and, before that, Skullgirls...

Other than that, I honestly have nothing... besides feeling the urge to avoid even the non-existent spoilers to follow pre-game release...

Fortunatly I already have a WiiU, so I don't have to buy a console for this 1 game.

Hmmm... I don't know. I really like the art style, but I guess you have to play the game to 'get' it.

I've grown to care more about semi-streamlined games than open world-stuff. Except 'Witcher 3' I always seem to end up with worlds devoid of life or crammed full with unnecessary quests that do not matter. And thus far the new 'Zelda' just doesn't look that interesting. You've got a handglider and can board down a hill, so... yay? I guess it comes down to how the single components come together in the end. And the abscence of enemies/puzzles in the videos I watched makes the game look boring - and I say that as someone who's loved almost every main entry of the series.

I hope I'm wrong and I'll probably get the game once it's out. But in this case I need a bit more to get onto the hype train.

I better not get any spoilers about any of the Hyruleborne bosses! I'm prepare to die [trying] firsthand! :p

But seriously, I believe the Sheikah Slate would be the closest to having a "guide" in this game...

Well, it has been reported by various [other] sources that Nintendo purposely left out most of the stuff that will inhabit just that part of the map in the game to avoid [major] spoiling...

Possible mistake: wasn't the stamina meter introduced in Skyward Sword? It seems a bit different here (depletes while climbing and hanging on ledges and such, a la Shadow of the Colssus), but the basic function is the same.
