Leipzig Breaks Attendance Records

The Leipzig Game Conference broke attendance records this year with over 183,000 visitors to the exhibition center.

Following the news that E3 is undergoing a massive restructuring, the Leipzig Game Conference has announced [http://www.leipziger-messe.de/LeMMon/PRESSE.NSF/messewebeng_gc/CEDF72E7B7422CA7C12571D7004CC4A9?OpenDocument&lang=en&style=gc] record numbers in attendance for the show. With over 183,000 visitors in four days, the show more than tripled the attendance numbers [http://arstechnica.com/journals/thumbs.ars/2006/5/15/3964] for E3 2006.

"Success on this scale is unique ever since the Leipzig Fair?s new exhibition centre was opened ten years ago. GC has clearly demonstrated that it?s the European number one, not just among the general public but also in the media and business sector - making it one of the leading events in the industry anywhere in the world," claimed Josef Rahmen, CEO of the Leipzig Fair.

Market research claims that 42 percent of the visitors were over twenty years old and 17 percent were female. It is also worth noting that this year saw 2600 journalists compared to 2000 in the previous year.
