So, me and Booker have finally handed in the last of our finals, and immediately decided "WE SHOULD DO AN LP TOGETHER!"

This is difficult, considering that we do not live together, and, in fact, live on entirely opposite ends of the city. This limits the co-op games somewhat, but we've come up with the perfect one.

I'm sorry, did I say co-op? I meant competitive.

In a decidedly different twist, we're not going to do a traditional laughing-and-playing-together video series. Instead, we're going to be sitting on our own computers, passive-aggressively insulting each other like teenagers as we race to the bottom of the...
Dungeons of Dredmor
http://images.wikia.com/dungeonsofdreamorguide/images/d/da/5955697943_82019c1d5f_o.jpg

Dungeons of Dredmor is a fantastic little dungeon crawler with a snarky sense of humor about it. Our task is simply to kill Dredmor on the tenth floor (we think... we've never actually won so far). Booker will play the guy and I'll play the girl, to avoid confusion (and because she has all dat... hair).

Our rules are simple:
1. We can do at maximum ONE floor per day.
2. One cannot have more than two more entries than the other if one of us starts lagging.
3. If one of us dies, they start over from the beginning. Permadeath FTW!
4. We'll be playing on Normal difficulty.
EDIT: 5. We'll be operating separate builds.

And what part will you, the dear reader, have in this?

YOU CHOOSE OUR SKILLSETS!

Don't worry if you don't know your alchemy from your dodging, vote anyways! The worse of a skillset we have, the more hilarious the deaths will be! Our job is to beat each other, your job is to enable us OR stop us.

<spoiler=Skills Within>Swords
Axes
Maces
Staves
Archery
Thrown Weaponry
Unarmed
Dual-Wielding
Shield Bearer
Berserker
Artful Dodger
Master of Arms
Vampirism
Golemancy
Fleshsmithing
Mathemagic
Psionics
Necronomiconomics
Viking Wizardry
Astronomy
Promethean Magic
Magic Training
Blood Mage
Ley Walker
Perception
Burglary
Assassin
Fungal Arts
Alchemy
Wand Lore
Archaeology
Smithing
Tinkering

Your only hint: It's generally recommended that you choose ONE of the crafting skills (alchemy, wand lore, smithing, tinkering) and their appropriate weapon (wand lore is self-containing, alchemy goes with staves, tinkering goes with bows and thrown weapons, and smithing goes with everything else).

If reading the above skills hurt your head and you don't know what some of them do, so what? Pick them anyways! It's how we found out what they did! If you saddle us with a completely broken character, we won't last more than one floor anyways.

So, guys. Pick us a skillset and name for our characters, and we'll start fighting to win...
...the DUNGEONS OF DREDMOR!

Golemancy I found to be very useful, plus the little golem you create has his arse flapping about, so that's plus.

Are you both using the same skillsets? I would make you choose one or two of the new DLC skills as well as it's only 50p now and I haven't got around to trying them yet. :p

I play permadeath normal as well, so when you get your skillsets I'll give it my best go. Only ever got to about floor 4 or 5 before a monster zoo nailed me.

Nope, give us different skillsets, pls. More diversity = more fun.

And maybe we'll get the DLC before this LP is over, but we don't have them right now. Yet.

Veganism looks to be a hoot, though.

Golemancy +1. Any other takers?

Swords, Master of Arms

Am I doing it right? I'm kind of confused how the skills go together and what is in what spot.

I just figure Mastery of swords is a classic, can't go wrong.

Tip: Don't try to understand right now. You'll get it eventually. If either one of us beats this in less then ten tries, we've played it wrong. Ten to twenty re-rolls is enough to get the hang of what's happening. :p

But yeah, swords are swords. Master of Arms is armor. That's a pretty classic fit.

+1 swords, +1 master of arms.

My ideal setup (Pre-DLC) was Thrown Weaponry, Unarmed, Berserker, Artful Dodger, Vampirism ,Assassin, and Archaeology. I loved finding Monster Zoos, because I would run into the middle of them and just counter/dodge everything to death.

Post-DLC, I'm going to be replacing Thrown Weaponry with Curse of the Werediggle or whatever.

Werediggles gonna dig.

Edit: For some reason, somtimes with that setup, I'll get the Fedora and other times I'll get the Hamachi. Why does this happen and how can I make it so that I always get the Fedora?

Edit: I should clarify...I'm voting for my setup to be used by someone.

Edit 2: But replace thrown weapons with Fleshsmithing. *Evil laughter*

Countering and dodging is indeed fantastic, however, we're looking for a challenge--not necessarily a good build. Regardless, +1 Thrown Weaponry, Unarmed, Berskerer, Artful Dodger, Vampirism, Assassin, and Archaeology. Also, +1 Smithing.

It's a magikarp power [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MagikarpPower] build. It'll suck really hard in the beginning when you can't self heal, you have no skills, and your stats are pretty low. But when you near the end of the dungeon, you are God in human form.

With perma-death turned on, it becomes very interesting. Also, due to the lack of self-healing and no rogue skills...a single trap is enough to really screw you over.

Have fun.

You know, you're right. I replied to you last time as if I hadn't played a build like this before. That was fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun.

Anyways, I think we need some more votes before we start.

Don't forget that we're looking for two separate builds. It doesn't really matter who gets what, but if no clarifications are made, horrendous (and hilarious) decisions will be made. >:D

So what you doing then, a video or a screenshot/writing thing each?
Lets see one of you take Psionics if you haven't got a build yet, haven't heard/seen much use of that one.

I'n other news I just got the DLC and am immensely enjoying my level 8 warrior with full big game hunter skill set, the skill where you can call a horde of diggles with a cooldown of one turn and not require mana is proving stupidly OP, pretty sure I did the whole of floor 3 without swinging my sword or getting hit. Did a whole monster zoo that way as well.

I'm screenshot/writing. Booker will probably do the same thing.

+1 Psionics. Just a couple more, and we'll split the skills in a splendidly dumb way. :D

Oooh, this should be fun. I've only ever got 4 floors down.
I vote for Golemancy! You can be as moustache as fuck!
Never mind, it was taken and I like variation. Dual wielding!

After harvesting the data and running it through a Python script for randomly generated fun, we have arrived at this skillset for each player:

lacktheknack: Thrown weapons, Blood Magic, Archaeology, Golemancy, Berserker, Smithing, Promethean Magic
booker: Vampirism, Magic Training, Fleshsmithing, Master of Arms, Psionics, Dual wielding, Swords

Oh, dear. Looks like this might be horribly unbalanced. But that's half the fun. Now to begin...

LET'S PLAY DUNGEONS OF DREDMOR, COMPETITIVE EDITION

THE ADVENTURES OF JOHNNY MUFFIN: CHAPTER 1

First of all, let me get something off my chest before it becomes a problem.
<youtube=Lct6x-XqWrw>
There. Now we can begin properly.

http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/614971818245647962/8567A668090A8ECA3D76179506502F8A4C946BBC/

http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/614971818254992687/C4ED7987655BCF2A9F1481E892CFD2A4CAC00DA9/

Alright! Things are starting off well already! We got a sword, an extra useless shield. Things are going pretty well. Let's go through a few doorways, see what we got here.

http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/614971818254997620/CF9C5ABDA861808ABB0E4FA3AFAAE8D8F2890E69/

Aha! A vile beast! You are no match for me, a noble psychic vampire knight! Woah. That actually sounds awesome. I'm going to kick ass in this playthrough.

Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah.

DIE MONSTER. YOU DON'T BELONG IN THIS WORLD!

Let?s try out our fun psionic powers! What?s this? I can make my enemies sleep and die doing it? Sure why not!

http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/614971818255001054/585E5C18884FB1635583D24F30D198EC82E16CDA/

Uh? Crud. RUN AWAY! Hey, what's that grey protrussion on the floor?

http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/614971818255004223/DF1E9D7D7350EA30378AD2CA01D857A5282ACE27/

YOU DIDN?T SEE THAT. THAT WAS A PRACTICE. (Practice runs are allowed, right?). THAT WAS A PRACTICE PLEASE IGNORE IT.

*ahem*

Let's start for real this time.

http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/614971818255081125/BBA93BD90920BC3F8CC651A69CF3EB49F0CBF1A8/

This time I prepared myself: I got my robe, my splinterful sword and my traffic cone to let the monsters know I'm coming. And that I'll slay them. Yeaaaaaaaaah!

I'm just going to go ahead and open the next unlocked door and hope I can stay alive. Not that I doubt my ability to or anything like that. No, that would be silly!

http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/614971818255150645/2BD6C42872C8B3B11D7BD56ADFCE848E76B26006/

Hey look, I'm not dead yet. And there's a pile of the holiest consumable in existence: lutefisk! This is a sign: this playthrough will be a fruitful one. And by fruitful, I mean bloody. And vampire-y.

And indeed, my adventure was bloody and vampire-y, for I did manage to inconsequentially cut through several of the dungeon's enemies whilst drinking thier blood to replenish me without dying this time. Not that I feel that I'm going to die this time. Uh... Let's pray to Inconsequetia to bless us with further good luck. Or a sidequest. Either is good.

http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/614971818255191950/0A39BCFC81B4533F76CBDB72F19F42BA8DA77001/

Yeah, yeah, whatever, go ahead.

http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/614971818255272830/87772CAC80AA5AF2FF60E3F94A89BFB08B399745/

As my adventures continued, I encountered a strange salesman. Brax, he was called. He offered me a wide-array of shiny things, but I, a hoarder at heart, decided I'd have none of it until I could afford the shiniest thing... MWUHAHHAHAHA.

http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/614971818255276289/A133619680A262C110EFB0C3B1C740791F14E556/

I ventured forward, all that I did see, and eventually the dungeoneering experience payed off. I augmented my vampire abilities with the power to drink from my enemies corpses. Because even vampires have to eat leftovers.

I quickly gained the ability to push-back my enemies WITH MY MIND, as well as the useful power to make magical regenerative energy crystals when, lamentably, a bloody morsel is nowhere to be found. As well, I hoarded up everything I could and sold it to Brax because I like shiny gold coins. Also, most items mean nothing to me. Seriously. Not only can I not eat food, but I have no crafting skills whatsoever, so I might as well sell most of what's to be found in the dungeon. Fantastic.

http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/614971818255411917/26C5F763376ECEA5040FBACE27A0601DDC7B7E7C/
http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/614971818255414068/D70F2B071A1F1498D32A67EE586024DD40EFB927/

Finally, after much bloodshed and hoarding, I have cleared the first floor of this dungeon. I await at Brax's, for even in this early stage, I am drowning in riches. I anxiously pour over the Brax's merchantable as I prepare for the next floor in this dungeon. Oh. And I also just realized that I'm wearing no pants. I should probably go grab some.
