Last time, quite a lot happened. We were attacked by a Sith Assassin, who we beat into friendship, tore up a gang, and had a naked brawl with the Handmaiden. Speaking of which...

And so, the Handmaiden dances for Vogga's amusement. And by dance, I mean she sways from side to side very slightly, a dance so hypnotically dull it puts Vogga to sleep.

We get to keep the Dancer's Outfit. Suprisingly, thanks to it's +2 Persuade skill stat, it ends up being incredibly useful for a female main character, to the point we're you'll probably spend the majority of the game with it on outside of combat. However, since only female characters can wear it, and only two of them at that, it's basically useless for a male main character.

...wait. Bob, why does it say that it's useable by you?

Bob: "It doesn't say that."

And most of that information turns out to be entirely useless because Obsidian apparently slapped together this "puzzle" in about 5 minutes.

Bob: "I'll do my best."

I may have hyped this puzzle up too much last time by claiming that it was the hardest thing ever. It isn't actually that hard, in fact, it's pathetically easy. Hard is the wrong word for it. What it is, is frustrating. Why is it frustrating? Primarily, it's because it's a puzzle based on a ludicrously simple premise (which of these numbers is biggest) and obfuscates it with pointless bullshit to pad it all out. Essentially, you have to travel to three separate towers, remember the numbers you get at each one, then key them in correctly once you have them all. And if you can't remember them, well, tough shit, you have to back and memorize the numbers again, or write them down on a piece of paper. Now, there are some occasions were it is perfectly all right to use a pen and paper for a game.Legend of Grimrock is a great example if you play on classic mode: charting the dungeons out yourself is very immersive. However, if you expect me to write down random numbers to solve your stupid fucking puzzles, then I have a bird to flip right here for you. It's frustrating, needless, busywork bullshit, any developer who does this should be skinned alive and pecked to death by birds.

Or, maybe, given a kick up the backside. Whichever is more, um, appropriate.

Many aliens in the Star Wars expanded universe are defined by their roles in the films. For example, Bothans tend to be paranoid, elusive, espionage types, because Bothans were mentioned as spies in Return of the Jedi. However, by far the most egrecious example of this is with the Bith, who appeared as the Cantina Band in the original film, and are this based entirely around this cameo.

I like this quest quite a bit. It was cut out of the game in the original release, but I don't really see why. It only consists of a few lines of dialogue. I think of much worse quests in the original release we could have done without (here's lookin at you, pylons). The idea is that the Gand think of themselves as a whole, like the Geth from Mass Effect. However, prominent members of their society who have done great deeds are honored for their acts with an identity of their own. Therefore, we have to look for the one who refers to themselves as "I".

Question Time! With the next generation bearing down on us in a matter of months, it's a time I often find myself reflecting on the generation that is drawing to a close. It's been a hell of a long one, but, what was your single favorite game of this generation? For me, it's probably a three way tie between Deus Ex: Human Revolution, which cut a lot of the original's fat while delivering a story that far surpasses the tinfoil-hat bullshit of the original (though I still love the first one), Dragon Age: Origins, probably my favorite Bioware game despite it's numerous flaws, and The Witcher 2, with Spec Ops: The Line as an honorary mention.

Hm, this past generation? I'd have to pick the Mass Effect series - there are some games which are as good, and some better, than the individual games of the series, but the series as a whole is tied together so well, with a continuity of choice and great characters that made me invest in the series far more than any other game. Of course, that backfired a little when they decided to end it in a way that failed to resolve the issues I actually cared about (re: what happened after you stop the bad guy), but I've always been firmly in the camp of the journey mattering over the destination, and Mass Effect was a helluva journey.

Runners up would include Fallout: New Vegas, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and Dragon Age: Origins, for each making wonderful RPGs that do great things with their specific genres. Non-RPG contenders would include Assassin's Creed II, for letting me freerun and murder at will through Renaissance Italy; Portal 2, for being a hilarious, well-designed and well-paced puzzle game; and Civilization V, for being the first strategy game I really enjoy, and continuing to consume countless hours of my life.

Sorry I haven't responded in awhile. Always enjoying the let's plays even if I am just creeping it. For the past generation, I would have to give my #1 game/series to Mass Effect, and if push comes to shove, possibly give it to ME3. The ending still leaves a terrible taste in my mouth, but all in all, it was a pretty solid game. Tuchanka and Rannoch being so much fun to play.

A very close 2nd would be Civ5 for the sheer amount of time I have put in it and the amount of time I've put in it. A great strategy game, and I think with the continuous play of Civ that one of my favourite genres is turn-based strategy. I don't know if it's a next gen, but I think that Minecraft also deserves a huge nod of the head, another of my favourite games. So much things you can do in the game, and where my limited imagination fails me or my friends, there are ton of interesting let's plays out there. Go Farlands or Bust. WOOO...sorry.

Other games that I would want to mention would be FTL for being a great rogue like. Most of those types of games I would play for a little bit, but with FTL I would keep coming back. There was a charm to the game and it was really well designed and created, but screw that final boss. And one last mention would have to go to Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion. I think people liked the original over this stand-alone expansion...thing. But I had a great time playing it and taking over galaxies, and the amount of detail that went into designing the ships and how you can see them up close and personal was so cool. I recommend that game to everyone if you like a Civ type game, though it is more real-time than turn based.

Hey Woodaba, were those Jekk Jekk Tarr scenes in the vanilla game where you just go in assuming protagonist amzaingness. I never did that, because for some reason I though if I went in there I would have died immediately, so I was always scared to go in there.

You can actually strut around the Jek'Jekk Tarr like a boss without any kind of protection. The base game lacks the Gand quest, but other than that, you can totally do it. You continually take poison damage, but it really isn't a big deal, especially if you have Improved Heal.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to Woodaba for going through the effort of doing this play through and inspiring me to pick up the game again. My cousin has first dibs though (got it on his steam account) he sadly refuses to play with no weapons :( and to top it off he intends to play it as close as possible to drew kashdfsfjsfhsfjs characterisation of "Meetra Sutrik", so essentially a doormat.

Make sure to pick up the latest version of the Restored Content Mod: there's no hyperbole when I say that it improves the experience tenfold.

And yeah, a "canonical" Exile would probably only have two conversation options for any given situation.

1: Isn't Revan dreamy?

Mass Effect would easily be my favourite of this generation (still a PC-only gamer so gaming generations are kind of nebulous for me anyway) but like you, I give a special mention to Spec Ops for being something different and interesting amongst all the brown shooters.

I think I'll give the Game of the Generation to The Walking Dead for story. I have no idea how I'd rate it on gameplay, but I think Telltale knocked it out of the park with that game.

To be honest, I love this scene. Not only because it's pretty damn entertaining, and it leads to a pretty hilariously cheesy fight, but it serves as the culmination of Atton's character. Atton, before we met him, was a distrustful sociopath who snapped necks involuntarily. But now, we see him standing up for something, having finally gained a friend he can fight for. It warms your heart. And other things in this scene warm other parts. Ahem. Moving on!

Mira is built quite similarly to Atton, with more emphasis on combat, which is how I like to keep her. Her damage output with dual blasters is very high once you max out Two-weapon fighting, and her grenade launching abilities makes her probably the best non-Jedi ranged fighter in the game. Unfortunately, Hanharr likes to get up close and personal. Fortunately, he's actually rather easy, especially if you trick him into running into the mines scattered across the arena. It's worth noting that we have FINALLY found another set of viable armor for Bob to wear. It isn't as good as his purple skirt (in fact, pretty much nothing is), but variety is the spice of life, so we're using it for the time being.

Suprisingly, Hannharr is actually an optional party member for a Dark-Side Exile, while Mira is his Light-Side double. Despite the fact that I do like Mira for reasons I will get into later, Hannharr is an absolutely fascinating character. I don't want to spoil too much for those who haven't played the dark side path before, but it's honestly worth it just for Hannhar, he's that good. He completely sucks in combat, but at least he's nice to talk to.

Hmm, maybe nice is too strong a word...

Question Time! Who is, in your opinion, the single dumbest villain in fiction history? Comedy villains don't count, they have to be a villain the work wants us to take seriously, and yet is so stupid that we can't help but laugh at them. Visquis is a worthy mention, as is almost every Bond villain (JUST SHOOT HIM ALREADY). In fact, I may just have to give it to Visquis, because he's otherwise written quite well, but is just so incompetent at every turn I can't help but feel that it has to be deliberate.

I never knew about that exploit with the assassin twins. I had a good laugh at that one... then cried because I never figured it out sooner.

As for worst villain, mine would be Lex Luthor from Superman Returns. His plan is so utterly retarded I don't even need to explain why.

Oh gawd - when you set all of his failures up 1-2-3-4 like that Visquis really is comical, isn't he...

Voldemort gets my vote for a comically ineffectual villain who had umpteen chances to kill his nemesis but instead bumbled through a bunch of increasingly crazy schemes. Magic couldn't kill the baby? How about conventional means, numbnuts! :p

I brought my cousin with me to see Order of the Phoenix in cinemas- when we got to Voldy possessing Harry when he was right there in front of Dumbledore, he stood up and screamed, "JUST PUT A FUCKING BULLET IN HIM ALREADY!"

He really liked the finale of Deathly Hollows Part 2.
