He?s a unique enemy that steals your shit when he touches you. He?ll immediately fly off to the thrift shop which implies that shopkeeper makes trades with birds. He?s risky to fight? but the priiiize. A 200 rupee, he?s worth farming once you can actually kill him efficiently.

When she mentions the wedding, it?s implied she?s not very excited about it. Add in what Anju?s mother said and it?s pretty clear Cremia secretly loves Kafei who instead loves her best friend. Cremia has it pretty rough in this world. There?s something else I should mention about Romani Ranch; all of this is entirely optional. Seriously, once you get Epona you can turn your back on this place and give their milking business the finger.

But that doesn?t feel right does it? The ranch is an optional ?breather? area, where you can take a break from saving a race from extinction and remember there are more than just the land that?s in danger. It?s people. People with hopes and dreams, loves both fulfilled and unfulfilled. People who are just trying to live their lives as best they can. They don?t have any control over events like this, but we can do something about it.

This mission was rather difficult to do when I was young because I didn?t figure out that the arrows are infinite and so long as you hit the rider that?s attacking they can?t get anywhere close. So basically just spam arrows and you can get through with all three, but you just need to save at least one.

See, Cremia has been shat on her whole life. Her father left her with the farm and her sister, the brothers are ruining her trade, and the man she loves is in love with her best friend. And that?s only if you do everything right. If you fuck up, she loses the cows, and the mind of her only family. It?s not too far to imagine that Creamia has simply? given up. Despite her best efforts, despite all the help we?ve given, it doesn?t matter because the moon is about to fall.

This is really meant to drive home the helplessness the game is presenting. In Ocarina we didn?t really think about the innocent civilians just watching from afar while forces beyond their understanding and control fight for dominance. It?s always them that suffer the worst of it. It?s always them that can?t do shit about it.

Remember what Cremia was talking about earlier, she now knows Termina is doomed and has resigned herself to her fate. But she hasn?t told Romani about it. She can?t bring herself to. So she offers her sister her first drink right before she dies. And asks her, without saying why, to sleep together in the bed. Imagine it, the two of them asleep in each other?s arms. Cremia wide awake knowing their death is approaching, but Romani is sleeping soundly. They hear a boom, a wall of fire approaches?. Oh fuck man I got something in my eye. I?m legit crying right now?

Next update I'll be by myself again with the usual screenshot update. It'll be another faffing about update of me doing mini-games and teaching a pair of angry beaver brothers who's boss. And yes that statement only makes sense in context. Hope you guys enjoy the update as much as I do making them.

Ah, Japan. Where you can make a game about fulfilling the masturbatory fantasies of horny sailors and no one bats an eyelid. I expect nothing less from Nintendo, the company that gave us Fire Emblem: Awakening, AKA, That Game With A Small Child As A Romance Option But It's Ok Because She's Actually A Thousand Year Old Dragon In The Form Of A Little Girl. Though I don't think they let you use that name in the marketing.

But, hey. At least it's not Persona 3 Portable, where if you want 100% Completion, you have to engage in a romantic relationship with a ten year old boy. Because that's what I play video games for.

The Water Temple from Ocarina is something of a Chinese Whisper gaming legend. It's no harder than the other dungeons of the game: it's just tedious because you have to go into the menu to equip the Iron Boots constantly. In fact, in the recent 3DS rerelease, it's one of the easiest dungeons in the game. The Great Bay temple, on the other hand, is legitimately hard. The steroid analogy is very apt.

The pirate fortress is another interesting mirror to Ocarina of Time. As far as I can remember, the stealth section in that game required sneaking past Gerudo women as well, and the whole section is like an ode to it, like you said. I guess it' another element of Majora's Mask that strengthens Termina's "same but different" feel to Hyrule. The game never explicitly says what Termina is: another country, another world, another dimension, but there's a clear link between the two worlds. The people here are the same, but twisted in a way that's unsettling. For example, The Happy Mask salesman was weird with his unmoving expression in Ocarina: now he's downright terrifying.

Oh, playing a wizard in D&D is amazing. You start off as a wuss who dies when they're breathed on and can throw maybe two shitty spells per day, but towards the higher levels, you become unto a god, and the barbarians who teased you and took your girlfriends in Hogwarts are trampled under your omnipotent boot.

Together, we can BE justice!

I really don't like FFX, despite the fact that I adore the battle system, and the soundtrack is a surprisingly mixed bag for a Nobuo Uematsu score, but I definitely agree on the Besaid Island theme. It exudes relaxation.

Another great update. The interplay between you to three is consistently funny, but while I have enjoyed these video updates, it's nice to go back to the screenshot format, at least for a while. I do like the video updates, which is big coming from me, so I wouldn't mind alternating between the formats at all. Keep up the good work!

Spoiler: Update 13: The Last of Faffing: Part 1

When we last left our Hero, he had rescued the eggs and was ready to hit the Great Bay Temple, AKA Water Temple on Steroids. So naturally we?re putting that off as long as possibe.

First we have some hearts to collect. I could have done this one sooner but didn?t because raisens.

We have a pretty unique enemy down here.

You have to be a bit careful with your aim with these ones. Unlike the land ones, if you hit the stem they don?t die, they just ran around the floor being a nuisance.

So where?s the heart?

This is why you need Zora Link for this. Apparently Link swims like a 10 year old, who?d have thought right?

Now then, we need fish. Don?t question me on this, we need fish.

Trust me, I know what I?m doing.

Aha! You see? I totally knew you couldn?t catch the ones in the sewers and had to pick them up from inside the inn. How could I NOT know that? But Yassen, why do we need these fish?
Natural selection, my dear boy.

I admit this does seem a bit cruel, like sticking a live mouse in a snake?s glass box so it can eat fresh. But then nature is pretty fucked up when you think about it.

Like how eating smaller fish causes these ones to grow larger immediately. Seriously nature, get your act together.

Once he?s big enough he eats the other fish in the tank.

And spits out its heart.

Just roll with it. That?s not even the strangest thing we do in this update.

Where to next? To visit an old friend, of course.

As well as fast-forwarding time, hinting a song to slow down time and one to skip time, he also gives you the chance to make up your own song.

No matter what he says, your song will always be shit.

This is why we need him. There are a few points in the game it?s possible to ?summon? the scarecrow with the amazing powers of our shitty song. Probably because he?s just trying to be polite and not shatter our fragile ego.

Always a requirement too.

There?s a small mini-game here for Zora Link, the idea is you break the pots in one go using your boomerang. But it?s ridiculously hard and only offers a purple rupee as a reward.

So what am I doing? Well first there?s a hidden heart in the possession of a moving asshole.

Spoiler: Update 13: The Last of Faffing: Part 2

This is one of my favourite minigames, using one of my favourite mechanics, to get one of my favourite rewards. Naturally, you can guess I enjoy this one.

You feel like a pro everytime you manage to pull off a proper dive.

This isn?t all that difficult to be honest, even the later ones.

Had like 35 seconds to spare, that?s beyond perfect.

As before this isn?t that difficult. If anything it?s even more fun. Maybe I?m just that good.

Some rings are placed in a way that suggests they want you to dolphin dive through them. Which makes you feel like a fucking badass Zora. I guess that?s what I like about this and the Goron races, they actually make you feel like you?re a Zora or Goron (even if doing the Goron one makes you feel like you?re smashing a rock into your head? quite appropriate I guess).

Oh yeah, with all the swimming I almost forgot the world is ending soon.

Nice, 1 more to go before we have the complete set.

Being a 90?s kid, you know who these two remind me of? A couple of beaver brothers that live in a dam, the older one being more cocky and yellow?


I know they?re not that similar in personality but as a kid I thought they were actually put in the game as some kind of homage to the cartoon. I doubt it is though, no matter how awesome that?d be.

This is Mikau?s room, he bunks with the fat guy of the Five-Man Band. These guys fit the trope literally word for word. Mikau is the leader (also lead singer and player), The Lancer, Japas (The lead guitar), The Smart Guy, Evan (keyboard), The Big Guy, Tijo, (Drummer), and the chick, Lulu (lead singer). It?s so spot-on I actually wonder if it?s a deliberate parody/homage.

Nosy bugger.

Duh, why even ask?

So much like Princess Ruto, the character Lulu is modelled after, she is meant to be a secret guardian of the water temple. Another nod to the similarity between Hyrule and Termina, only in Termina she?s a the lead singer of a band instead of a Princess.

The game kind of assumes that you came here first before going to get the eggs. This is a bit of a problem with the layout of the Great Bay part of the game as they design it in such a way that you?ll notice the sea-lab first and then direct yourself to the pirate bay which is closer. It?s not a big deal but it does make the ?flow? of the story feel a bit all over the place.

Well I don?t have them on me obviously because they?ve already hatched, numb nuts.

Much like Darmani, Mikau is the descendant of heroes of his particular race. Kind of like Link when you think about it.

Spoiler: Update 13: The Last of Faffing: Part 4

?what? We haven?t been respecting anyone?s privacy yet in this game, we?re not starting now.

Notice that platform? It?s so out of the way a lot of people will just completely bypass it. But there?s a piece of heart there, so naturally I want it. How we do get there?

Ahh of course, the invisible floating ice platforms strike again.

It doesn?t get us all the way though, so we have no choice but to play our shitty song.

New heart! So that?s 2 extra hearts I can use for the water temple.

And incase you were thinking of being a bit clever, Nintendo is onto you, you can?t hookshot the heart piece.

With that done, it?s time to? rewind time.

That?s right, the second spider house. We?re doing this for the giant?s wallet which holds 500 rupees. However, this one has a time limit. You need to collect all the spider souls before the second day, otherwise he doesn?t have it. (Probably sold it to a bird or something).

This place is all kinds of creepy. Since this is an LP and note a walkthrough, I won?t be showing all the locations because that?s boring.

Just a quick shot of the rooms that?s filled with the sound of spiders. Yaayy.

Interestingly enough, the Captain?s Hat gives us a piece of heart in this place.

Little skeletons are here apparently on the captain?s orders to investigate. Perhaps they?re related to the curse? Who knows, heart piece.

This makes little sense at first but becomes clearer later.

It?s best to make a note of the colour and order they mentioned as it?s completely randomised.

There are 6 of these guys, 2 in here, and 4 in the living room.

Seems skullkid is familiar with this place. Could be him that set the curse.

Last heart for this update. After finding all the souls we?re told the curse is lifted, but nothing happens. When we go to leave though?

Nah, the amount of Dust in that house would probably do a number on my Asthma. I might die.

As for my favorite 90s cartoon, it's gotta be a straight run between the 90s X-Men Cartoon and the Batman Animated Series. Both are great, and while Batman holds up waaaaaaaaay better than X-Men, I liked X-Men more as a kid. I also really liked the Superman Animated Series, and if I had to pick one, I think I'd cheat and say the Superman and Batman Animated Series', since they were both very much intertwined.

Angry Beavers was much like the cartoons at the time where there was no over-arching plot. It was just a bunch of memorable characters doing single episode stories that by the end didn't have lasting consequences. Like the countless times Dexter from Dexter's Laboratory blew up his lab. I love that style, as it allows the writers to go absolutely nuts.

I could make some cheap joke that the area that is all emo likes to listen to music all day involving guitars, but as I said that would be cheap. The hookshot is one of those classic Zelda items because of its use to improve the capabilities of platforming in a game that has that as a central mechanic. Unfortunately due to the similar nature of the ?Zelda Formula? its inclusion has become almost laughably predictable. I did like what Twilight Princess did though, making it a ?hook? allowing you to cling to things, and then adding a second so you can zip from wall to wall.

This opinion seems to be controversial but I liked TP more than Ocarina. And yes, I played Ocarina first. There seems to be some philosophy that the ?first? of something must inevitably be the best because without the trend setter, the follower would not have existed. But I don?t buy that, and it stifles the potential for an idea to be expanded upon, much like saying to a writer they can?t write a romance novel because there?s already Romeo and Juliet. So what? Who?s to say this new romance novel might not be better? For a long time no one thought that anyone could play the Joker better than Jack Nicholson. Then Heath Ledger was announced and everyone threw a hissy fit because ?No one can play him after Jack.? Guess what happened? He got a posthumous Oscar for it.

And now, once again, people are saying Ben Affleck will be a terrible Batman because other famous actors have already done that. You know what? Maybe he will suck. Or maybe he?ll be a remarkable Batman the same way Heath was a remarkable Joker? But there should, and will never be, the ?best? of something because ideas can always be expanded upon, not being a new idea doesn?t mean it can?t be good. And really? People are getting worked up over this while chemical weapons are being used in Syria against innocent people? AND YOU?RE PISSED WHO WILL BE PLAYING BATMAN?!

The water temple in Ocarina was mostly stone rooms with rising and lowering water levels. This place is mostly about pipes and giant water machinery which is obviously so much better.

You know, come to think of it? what is the POINT of this stuff? I?ve read theories that they apparently control the weather which is why its corruption has fucked up the surrounding area, but nothing is proven.

This is letting you know the central ?mechanic? or even gimmick of this temple. Each one after the swamp has one (the swamp is more like a tutorial). With Snowhead it?s the giant pillar in the middle, with Great Bay it?s the pipes and water, and with Stone Tower? well, that would be telling. But the explanation behind it is one of my favourite theories.

The yellow pipe is causing the wheel to spin a certain way? but for what?

Of course! It?s to cause this giant whirlpool! (I don?t know why either, stop asking questions).

The currents are extremely powerful, there?s zero chance you can swim against it, even as a Zora.

There?s one more in here, where is she?

Aha! Just swim down to it right? Awww, you?re such a noob. You can?t reach it, kind of like a reverse eye of the hurricane.

I?d love to see an animated film where we slowly watch the mask grow across Link?s face, the stiffness softening to become his actual skin, bones cracking as his statue becomes taller. All the while screaming, first as a child, then slowly turning into that of a Zora as the being the mask once was is turned into the mask?s new owner.

Bit morbid? Maybe, but I?ll never forgive Nintendo if they do a remake and don?t take that opportunity.

The direction of the current only allows us access into two rooms, the others can only be reached if we switched the direction of the current.

Hmm, no means of reaching the room that red pipe is going into. We?ll need to activate it to change the spin of the wheel from the first room.

And the boss key is clearly behind that golden gate. We?ll need some method to get across the water. Something that would float on the surface and allow a small child to reach up and make progress. Hmmmmm?.

The point of this battle is pretty obvious. Break away the fish eggs and shoot the eye when you have an opening.

You?d think the spin attack would be good for this fight but surprisingly you?d be wrong.

Hit it enough, and then things get crazy.

My shots were pretty poor because of how chaotic this part is. Basically, it shakes off the eggs, then goes racing around the room slamming into the walls at random points. Your only chance to hit it, is to clear away the eggs, wait until it?s heading towards you and shoot the eye.

Yes, you WILL get hurt in this fight. A lot.

See what I mean? I?m not a big fan of this fight.

First time in this game I had to use a fairy. He?s still pissed Tatl won?t go out with him.

This subquest is one of the most tedious as it requires entering 3 separate dungeons. Swamp and Great Bay to kill the frog bosses, and Snowhead to make the Mountains go into spring.

We can?t. We need to activate the green pipe outside the boss?s room.
