Umm... maybe it's because I change the title each time I update?

If you guys would prefer, I can make a small group you guys can join so I can send out update alerts.

Round Five: I Got Ninety Nine Problems But A Giant Scorpion Ripping My Lungs Out Ain't One

I went back to the spellmaker to drool, when I decided that advancing in the Mage's guild should be a priority. Let's get a quest!

http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/8646/fall093.png

What ho, I hear that the Mage's guild always needs help, I'm available, so give me money!

http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/8409/fall094.png

Just an ingredient? I can work with that.

http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/9466/fall095.png

I'm half tempted to go find and slit a troll just for speed's sake, but I get the feeling he'd notice.

Before I go though...

http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/2038/fall099.png

I FEEL LIKE A MAN AGAIN!

http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/1879/fall096.png

http://img585.imageshack.us/img585/5641/fall097.png

Nice digs. Could do with a less hellish sky, I think...

http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/3199/fall104.png

http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/7533/fall105.png

http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/6430/fall098.png

It's like the castle was under siege, before the attackers suddenly realized they were attacking a pile of bricks and left without letting the inhabitants of said pile of bricks know.

http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/8168/fall100.png

Scratch that. That's the easiest thing to break into... ever. It's not even locked.

It's somewhat chilly in here... and there's a massive orgy of sounds. They don't shut up. I'd better go find that troll's blood and ignore what sounds like something breathing through its bowels.

<youtube=1drjLZqgZHA>

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

http://img828.imageshack.us/img828/716/fall101.png

More bloody bodies. It does such wonders for the atmosphere.

By the way, look what the burglar dropped.

http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/2661/fall102.png

Uh uh. No way. I'm being lied to. You do NOT achieve quest goals within three minutes of starting. I'm so sure of this that I'm gonna go explore everywhere first.

http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/7139/fall109.png

There's something... squeaky... in here.

<youtube=JyXcmPlCprE>

I just got ninja'd. BY A FREAKING BAT.

Wait...

http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/7339/fall110.png

There's something hissing like a bad actor imitating a dragon behind that door. I'm gonna open it...

http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/4540/fall111.png

OH NOES-

<youtube=d7qsruPQAYQ>

Now, I'm extremely happy that I'm entirely immune to poison. However, getting a muscly pickaxe through the lungs still HURTS LIKE OBLIVION'S FIERY BITCHSLAP, whether my body can take the poison or not.

http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/483/fall113.png

Oh look, another scorpion - GET THAT OVERSIZED NIPPLE OF YOURS OUT OF MY BLOODSTREAM.

http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/426/fall114.png

I found his friend - BAD SCORPION! THAT DID NOT TASTE GOOD!

http://img560.imageshack.us/img560/2418/fall115.png

I think I found a whole family of - TOUCH THE SHOES AND DIE. OW! YOU DIE!

http://img830.imageshack.us/img830/801/fall116.png

I'd like for everyone who cares to know that he die. He die good. Maybe I should open a butcher shop, he die so good.

http://img638.imageshack.us/img638/4334/fall117.png

You're probably thinking I'm overreacting to the scorpions, but the hallway above is one of the minority that doesn't have one. Seriously, they're EVERYWHERE. I could stuff this entry with a hundred scorpion pics, and they'd all be different scorpions.

http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/6774/fall118.png

Of course, the rest of the hallways have these sexy marauders in them - AGAIN. I DON'T LIKE SWORDS THERE. Cripes, these women have read the Kama Sutra all wrong.

http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/7044/fall120.png

Of course, when there's no enemies at all, the halls are littered with corpses and torture implements and deep pits of deadly death.

http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/772/fall121.png

Icky.

http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/8411/fall122.png

AAAAAAAUGH!

By the way, people, now that there are werewolves, I can contract Lycanthropy. If I get infected, should I actively seek a cure, or let it take over and become a Lycanthrope? I can't become a Vampire if I become a Lycanthrope, and town's will despise me while I'm in wolf form, but I'll be a wonderful addition to the Dark Brotherhood (even more so than being a Vampire).

Also, here's a clip of me utterly failing at being a ninja (and nearly succeeding at becoming a Lycanthrope).

<youtube=CLgyfRCdVGA>

Anyways, I wandered around for about two hours (real time!) and - oh! A missed passage! With STAIRS!

http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/8445/fall125.png

AAAAAAAUGH!

http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/5751/fall124.png

http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/2079/fall134.png

NOT THE FACE!

http://img703.imageshack.us/img703/9650/fall135.png

THE GOGGLES! THEY DO NOTHING!

http://img593.imageshack.us/img593/4139/fall137.png

I'm so very, very scared to turn this corner.

http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/6665/fall138.png

More stairs!

http://img638.imageshack.us/img638/3091/fall139.png

Have I stumbled into the Amazon Castle or somethin - HANDS OFF.

http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/341/fall140.png

Sacrificial altar?

http://img820.imageshack.us/img820/6976/fall141.png

I wanna get down there.

What follows was one of the most surreal moments of this entire dungeon, because I wasn't paying attention when this happened.

<youtube=MxW-0AUcdSE>

Floating down over the pit of death... look over distractedly... look up... I'm still up here?!

I'll take that as an omen.

http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/628/fall143.png

About now, this cheeky little monkey began firing arrows into my eye. Go away.

http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/4176/fall144.png

While I can appreciate a gift, could it come slower next time? And can I not dig it out of my face next time either? It's a heavy arrow, too.

http://img607.imageshack.us/img607/4051/fall145.png

I hate it when I can see through the crack in the door, make a guess as to what's behind it...

http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/9508/fall146.png

And get proven completely and totally right.

http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/5228/fall147.png

Ooh! It's a different type of light! I must be going the right way!

http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/6740/fall148.png

Scratch that, then.

http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/8742/fall151.png

REAAAAALLY scratch that.

http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/8616/fall152.png

Pro Tip: Don't forget to sleep! If you do and must pass out, pass out AWAY from threatening noises! (Fun Fact: I'm writing this at midnight after not sleeping and the chittering voices are getting closer... and closer... and closer...)

http://img710.imageshack.us/img710/427/fall154.png

LEVITATING MONEY!

Also, a clip of me not failing to be a ninja.

<youtube=DcSSLGWZeCU>

Hah! Go tell your Amazonian friends how YOU liked it!

Anyways, after spending literally four hours wandering this damned place (that's about five in game days), I find this.

http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/1158/fall155.png

http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/756/fall156.png

THE TEARS. THEY ARE OF JOY!

Plus, I'm really close to the exit, so no getting lost on my way out! Huzzah!

http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/341/fall159.png

Also, five days of looting does this.

http://img826.imageshack.us/img826/7522/fall158.png

MORE TEARS! MORE JOY!

http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/8384/fall160.png

I'd better leave before the area bursts into flames.

Back at the Mage's Guild:

http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/7811/fall161.png

But I fought so many -

http://img825.imageshack.us/img825/2900/fall162.png

... So tell me, sir, what did you say your home address was? North side, by the gem shop? Fantastic. Why? Oh, just curious.

Coming Up: I make spells, then hopefully rob this city blind.

I've made <link=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Lacktheknack-s-LP-Alert-System>this group for you to join if your bookmarks are acting funky as mentioned in previous comments. I'll send out an alert each time I update the LP.

These just keep on getting funnier.

Werewolf..or vampire. I'd go with werewolf. The villagers' reaction should be nice. And entering the Dark Brotherhood sounds great.

The monsters look terrifying in a pixelated form. I don't know why, but they are scarier than 3D ones. They will haunt my nightmares...

I say go full werewolf. Because fuck what the villagers think.
Fun facts about werewolves:

1. They are forced to stay in werewolf form on nights with a full moon, but can change at will at all other times.

2. They MUST eat an innocent person once per month.

3. They will be attacked by werewolf hunters.

4. +40 to strength, endurance, agility, and speed.

5. +30 to running, jumping, climbing, swimming, stealth, critical
strike, and hand to hand.

6. They can only be hurt by silver or better weapons when in wolf form.

Sounds fun, don't you think?

If I please the Daedra Hircine, she'll give me a shield that turns me into a lycanthrope, except I don't have to eat people and the full moon isn't an issue anymore.

I see... Well would that be far off? If so I say go werewolf, but if you could do it rather soon, I say go for the shield.

And besides, having to kill someone once a month and being attacked could lead to some humorous situations. For us at least, maybe not you.

It depends if I have the right date, the right amount of money, the right rank, and the right skills.

For normal lycanthropy, it's just a matter of being hit by the right werewolf. So it could go either way.

I'd just like to say thank you for making this thread, OP. I love Daggerfall, but I had to quit playing after my windows 95 box died, since at the time, the community hadn't found a way around Daggerfall's hatred of the NFTS file system. That link to a ready to go installer made my day; I still have it on disc, but the all in one package makes it so much simpler to set up. Goodbye Oblivion, hello Illiac Bay =D

Round Six: Havoc is Wreaked, Then Flees With Its Tail Betwixt Its Legs

So, I took my spoils and built a bunch of spells. You'll see them later, but here's the one that matters for tonight:

http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/2865/fall177.png

MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

However, I'm not so stupid that I'm going to rob things in broad daylight. I mean, come on! My magic isn't at its fullest potential in daylight!

So, off to find an inn.

http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/4219/fall182.png

http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/3006/fall183.png

Ooh, fancy architecture!

http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/2065/fall184.png

ONE night should suffice. I don't plan on being here any longer. Basic low self-esteem dictates that I will touch something owned by someone else, and guards will immediately come for me.

http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/6338/fall185.png

Blaaah, so tired...

http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/5572/fall186.png

All right, THIEVING TIME! It only took until round six, and I've shown my chops as a warrior at this point, but no more! YOUR MONEY SHALL ALL BE MIIIIIIIINE! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/2771/fall187.png

...I just realized something. Because I completely misunderstood how "chance of success" worked, I now have enough Mana to break two locks.

Fine. You shall keep some of your money tonight, Longbrugh Moor.

I am the worst thief ever.

http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/8238/fall188.png

Well, if I can break only TWO doors, then I'm gonna do this right!

Onwards, [insert name here] Sebastiana!

http://img251.imageshack.us/img251/3295/fall189.png

First stop: The Pawn Shop.

http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/4319/fall190.png

Sadly, I didn't get any pics of me actually robbing the store (I don't want evidence, you understand). All you need to see here is that I have collected over forty pounds of stuff.

Mostly books. Books are really expensive.

Anyways, on to one of the three general stores!

http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/7918/fall191.png

Let's do this one.

http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/3030/fall192.png

A horse-drawn cart? YES PLEASE.

A horse-drawn cart lets me carry an extra 750 pounds of merchandise. Definitely a WANT item.

http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/2922/fall193.png

In celebration, I'm nicking this pretentious gold cloak, so I can laugh at the shopkeepers' newfound poverty.

Maybe not THIS shopkeeper. He might recognize the cloak. And cart.

http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/1737/fall194.png

AHAHAHAH SOOOO EXCITED! Now, back to the inn to sleep!

Wait - check this out!

http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/8075/fall195.png

New transportation mode, YAY!

Actually, it's exactly like horseback riding, except slower and with more noise. Oh well.

http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/6712/fall196.png

Didn't stop me from getting so pumped that I dragged it all the way back to inn. Gee, I hope that the innkeeper doesn't ask how a cart materialized on my horse overnight...

http://img651.imageshack.us/img651/5954/fall197.png

And, after meditating all night after a successful double-robbery, I came up with better techniques for running my little bum off. I'm pretty sure this is an omen, but not entirely sure if it's good or bad.

http://img607.imageshack.us/img607/1917/fall198.png

I'm going to sell my stuff.

http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/4865/fall204.png

HALF A GRAND?!

FOR ONE BOOK!?

I feel like I've just won an award for "Most Incredibly Awesome Thief", or "Thief with Finest Tastes"... I can just imagine taking the award... turning to my loyal fans... an eloquent speech...

<youtube=BBuxhbsTzIY>

Wait, I said what? Who did I just imagine myself as? What on Tamriel just possessed -

What? Oh, uh, I didn't mean anything by it. No no no, the BOOK. Yes, 530 gold is fine. No, I do not want fruit. Thank you.

http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/43/fall206.png

Bizarre possessions aside, I'm so happy that I'm going to wear my pretentious gold cloak. Dig it, mortals!

By the way, here's the gold I raked in from one night.

http://img715.imageshack.us/img715/7704/fall207.png

I WIN. I'll never have need for gold again!

Anywho, back to the Mage's Guild.

http://img822.imageshack.us/img822/9950/fall208.png

I had a quick chat with an incredibly comical old man who claimed someone had stolen a cloak, made entirely out of gold. He then eyed me angrily. I don't know what his problem is. I stole this one from the general store, thank you very much, I told him, and I have no idea where yours is. He didn't say anything else.

Anywho, one looooong visit to the spellmaker later, and I had this to show for it.

http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/6126/fall209.png

http://img560.imageshack.us/img560/1292/fall210.png

http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/8313/fall211.png

http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/6053/fall212.png

http://img585.imageshack.us/img585/7909/fall213.png

http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/3693/fall214.png

http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/4579/fall215.png

http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/4462/fall216.png

http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/1122/fall217.png

http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/2674/fall218.png

http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/302/fall219.png

http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/9691/fall220.png

http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/5708/fall221.png

http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/4827/fall222.png

http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/4751/fall223.png

http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/5296/fall224.png

Thank you, sir!

This seems as good a time as any to try levitating (oh yeah, I made a levitation spell, by the way).

http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/9201/fall225.png

Think light thoughts...

http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/1717/fall226.png

Think lighter thoughts...

http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/2782/fall227.png

Think lighter-er thoAAAAAAHHHHH I'M FLYING!

Anyways, due to a massive misunderstanding as to how levitation works, I'm now on the verge of collapse.

http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/9481/fall228.png

Dagnabbit.

http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/7057/fall229.png

Trust me, my jumping skills MOST DEFINITELY increased. Bloody Oblivion, my legs are burning.

http://img703.imageshack.us/img703/4479/fall230.png

All right, let's try that again.

Here's a clip of me not failing to fly, complete with drawing issues, instant weather changes, and a massive brain fart at the end!

<youtube=3DSTZkf8Ncs>

http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/9673/fall233.png

A wonderful little photo of me sending impolite gestures at the Mage's Guild, where they can't see me.

Anyways, I'm done with this town. Here's a clip of me attempting to skip town with a little extra pocket change (and suffering another emasculating fail).

<youtube=rCV5be0YIJ8>

Coming Up: Probably another quest. For the reader: Pick a spell, any spell, and I'll make it!

Good gods, the guards are as worse as in Oblivion...at least you don't enter cutscenes.

I wonder, how does water breathing works? Do you grow gills? Is that painful? Is it worth it? Maybe to hide from the guards...

My selected spell would be water walking. It's appropriately godly.

Mother of all... Definitely werewolf. Well, shield, but if you can't get that, at least turn werewolf.

Also, there are no innocents. Only civilians to whom you have no proof of guilt. They always do something. I'm sure.

Water breathing is MOST CERTAINLY worth it, as swimming in this game is a painful, painful thing. It consists of hydrolyzing water as in enters my mouth (that's what I think...). However, I have both water breathing AND water walking already, as part of the fairly cheap Water Manipulation Spell. Something else, maybe more flashy?

Note: Up to three effects can be assigned to any one spell.

Hm, you would know about their flashiness better than I considering I haven't played the game. Do whatever you think it's appropriate or useful ...as long as it makes all the other peasants and adventurers jealous.

Go nuts, dear sir.

For damage, you can also select from Poison, Fire, Ice, Shock, or General.

Oh, the possibilities.

Hm...like a dispel / silence / disintegrate. My...I wish I had that in D&D. Does disintegrate also kills equipment or loot?

I'm not sure, but Disintegrate renders the other effects useless, as it is a TRUE disintegrate spell.

As in, it disintegrates the entire enemy, not just their armor.

Hm. A damage (poison or ice), silence (on mages) or drain with dispel. I have no ideas at this point, but I'm sure you'll pick what's more useful. You survived this far in game whilst I would have cowered and started crying.

Does Soul Trap work like D&D Imprisonment?

No, it fills the various soul gems you might have, which are used in item enchanting.
