Liam O'Brien

I play a lot of RPGs and it seems like most games I play there is someone who sounds incredibly familiar. Then I look it up to see the massive amounts of game characters Liam O'Brien has been a voice actor for. I think he is a very good actor, but I notice I always think Akihiko from Persona 3 is talking. It kind of throws me off.

Have you ever noticed this with a voice actor?

Anyways I can generally recognise a lot of voice actors if I've heard them in a couple games. Laura Bailey, Steve Blum, hell, I even noticed Mark Meer as one of the elven PCs in Dragon Age.

Now whenever I hear Jennifer Hale doing her badass voice I automatically assume Shepard has turned up.

Similar deal with Steve Blum, although I don't associate him with a single character.

Lastly, Claudia Black has a pretty distinctive voice. I can't even remember the name of her character in Gears of War 3 since I immediately dubbed her 'Claudia' as soon as she opened her mouth.

I've been noticing this with voice actors since I first figured out that Mr. Krabs and Dr. Neo Cortex were voiced by the same voice actor (Clancy Brown). Ever since then I've always enjoyed trying to pick out voice actors by simply listeing to them and not checking it up online.

Personally, I don't have much experience with Liam O'Brien. My knowledge is basically limited to replacing Crispin Freeman as Guan Yu in Dynasty Warriors 5: Xtreme Legends and DW5: Empires, Ieyasu Tokugawa in Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes and random minor characters in Fallout: New Vegas.

There are heaps of voice actors who make me go "Oh hey it's that guy!" And most of the time it's "Hey, it's that voice actor who did [insert character] from [insert Dynasty Warriors game].

I also seem to be one of very few people who don't associate Jennifer Hale with Shepard. To me Jennifer Hale will always be Jennifer Mui from the Mercenaries series.

Spike Spiegel? Mugen? Roger Smith? Jamie? Eliphas the Inheritor? You know, the 5 of 453 roles he wasn't complete shit at because he sounds the same no matter where he goes?
