Line Rider Slides Onto iPhone

Online flash game Line Rider will race onto the iTunes game store this month for $2.99.

Once a simple online Flash game, Line Rider has sled its way to success, with Wii, DS and PC releases since its 2006 inception.

This month, the iPhone and iPod Touch will be able to play a special version of the series that utilizes the hardware's touch screen for track building and the phone's web access to view user-submitted tracks.

"We have over a million visitors to LineRider.com [http://linerider.com] every month, and our strong and vocal audience has been asking for an iPhone/iPod Touch version of Line Rider ever since the touch interface was introduced," said Brian Fargo, chief executive officer of inXile entertainment Inc. "Line Rider is a natural fit for the iPhone as mobile users will be able to share their tracks and ride the lines almost anywhere now."

Additionally, a sequel to the previous retail release, Line Rider 2: Unbound, will feature fresh modes, characters and challenges designed by the world's number one Line Rider player, TechDawg.

Hells YEAH! I love me some Line Rider.

Of course, I don't have an iPhone, but I'm still glad the game is getting some fresh attention.

I remember the Line Rider beta. It was so simple, draw a line on the screen, and he will ride it. now it has all backgrounds and mini-games and shit. Look up old line-rider videos, all the impressive background was hand-made! but don't listen to me... I'm just a bitter old coot.

Hmmmm. Never heard of this game. Still, it seems like a glorified browser-flash game. I will certainly not buy an iPhone for this, or anything. Even if this game is a natural fit for the iPhone, that doesn't seem like an achievement to me. Stop trying to pretend the iPhone is something other than a phone crammed with tiny extras.

I believe free rider incorporated the aspect of Drawing the lines for something to go down, but enhanced it with the ability to control your bike.

However Line Rider is a fun game and does deserve the honour.
