Live-Action Skyrim Fan Film is Short But Sweet

Skyrim: Dragon Hunt, a live-action fan-made video, is a short but impressive look at the rough life of a Dovahkiin.

It's not always easy being the Hero of the Beach. Plenty of babes and sunshine, sure, but sooner or later you're going to have to punch someone out. Same thing when you're the Dovahkiin; it's all ale and whores until the dragon shows up and starts terrorizing the village, and then you have to slog out into the middle of the forest and try to take down a giant, flying, firebreathing lizard with a medieval nail gun and a glorified hedge trimmer.

This video by YouTube user polcan99 [http://www.youtube.com/user/polcan99], aka Tom Antos, is short and maybe a little overwrought, but it's also pretty impressive for a one-man show. Not that Antos is a novice; he's an indie filmmaker who's been in the business since 1997, making commercials, music videos and other films.

Obligatory pedantry, to get it out of the way: the hero is a little under-dressed for a Nord dragon slayer and yes, the CGI fire-blast dodge was kinda cheesy. But there's a dragon! In my book, that makes up for a lot. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim [http://www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-V-Skyrim-Pc/dp/B004HYIAPM/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1316533200&sr=8-3] comes out on November 11 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Don't think so. Probably just put into the film to add to it. This was really cool. Wonder if they could could use the dragon from Dragons Heart?

Nope, crossbows magically disappeared after Morrowind and have not been seen since.

It's impressive but he never winds the crossbow. When he first pulls it from behind his back, it's not strung, but he still manages to fire it. Then he never winds the windlass back before loosing again.
So not only will Skyrim feature crossbows, but they will be magic crossbows.

Joking aside, very impressive stuff.

It was a good attempt but in all honesty it wasn't all that good.

I can nitpick the way the dragon is taken out and how he wields his weapon but that is besides the point. He should of gotten for the 'less is more' route which would of made it more impressive. He could do an easy 3-5min and fill it up with atmosphere if done right.

Games have had such a bad influence on me, that seeing a guy with a normal sized axe and crossbow makes him seem like a wuss.

Bad, bad games!

The problem is it was just a 1 handed axe, now if he was wielding a great axe, then we could have seen some fun :D

Great stuff. Wish I had that guy's skill with FX
Could this be a teaser for a much larger project?

Anything like this will make an instant fan out of me:
