Looking for good ambient/trance music, No Vocals

Hey guys. Another topic today: so I'm finding that I getting somewhat bored of what I'm listening to at the moment, and I could use some new music to listen to. I'm mainly into electronica and the like, and I listen to quite a few subgenres, like trance, house, and Drum & Bass. Let's list what I'm familiar with:

Bluetech
Shulman
Sterling/ Sterling Angel
Daft Punk
DJ Tiesto
Aphex Twin
Boards of Canada
Signum

I'm looking for more music in the ambient/electronic Genres, and while vocals are allowed, Lyrics are not, since I prefer to listen to music as a sonic experience, rather than poetry with accompanying sounds. So do you guys know of any good ambient electronic music?

Thanks! And one more thing: I know that games and films have a lot of good ambient music. I've got quite a bit of it on my Ipod, including the aforementioned Silent Hill music by Akira Yamaoka. He is terrific.

I can see why Helios is your favorite. That's exactly the kind of stuff I'm looking for. Thanks a bunch. And for the record, nothing's too hard or soft here. I like my ambient stuff to be more melodic though, to be clear.

The four above producers does have tracks with vocals, so just avoid those, since you specified no vocals. It's too bad really, because a lot of the tracks with vocals are weaved in quite well. There are also uses of sampling in other tracks, not sure if that count as vocals for you.

While not ambient Metropolis by Gareth Emery and Thomas Datt's Evaporate (Chilled Mix) are both excellent. I highly recommend them.

Hey, I did say stuff like Trance was game, so don't worry. Also keep in mind my definition of Ambient is generally wide, considering my musical library, where it can mean anything from a downtempo version of a game level's theme track to the literal ambient noise. I generally prefer the more melodic stuff, so if you've got anymore like those two that would be great.

While that's probably terrific in the context of game itself, I'm sad to say it's not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for more melodic ambient tracks, like the ambiance from games like Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I like my music to have a more readable movement that sounds good on a car stereo, rather than something like a random collection of sounds.

I like the first two, but I'm not so much into the dubstep ones. It's a lot easier on the ears than that horrible American Brostep crap we've got around here, but it's still not much to my liking.

They're best listened to with earphones, to get all the details. But if you don't like them, fair enough.

Tbh I try to ignore 'brostep' as much as possible now. Unfortunately it's spilt back into the UK and it's really frustrating when some people dismiss my taste or recommendations cos they get the wrong idea when I say I like dubstep.

HDA has vocals, but their presence is minimalized in the music.


Nine Inch Nails has a quadruple album called Ghosts I-IV that's completely ambient and absent of vocals. It's fantastic.
