I love the pointy-clicky style adventure games of old, and there aren't a lot coming out on the market in recent years so I'm looking for suggestions of new ones to play. I'm already a HUGE Grim Fandango fan and I'm planning on getting the Longest Journey as fast as I can. What are some other good adventure titles for me to check out?

Secret of Monkey Island. In fact, the first two monkey island games. (I don't know how the last 2 were, as I never played them)

Myst... that would be about the only of these games I really enjoyed, so I can't really promote anything else.

1. Any monkey island game
2. Full throttle
3. The original Sam and Max
4. The new Sam and Max games

If you like point and clicks there is a good chance you'd like some old school text adventures. A peronal favorite of mine is 'hitch hikers guide to the galaxy' written by the late great Douglas Adams, and loosely based on the book of the same name.

If you like horror play Clocktower: The First Fear(SNES) and Clocktower 2 (PS1). If you don't then i recommend Myst as well.

Quest for Glory is excellent. Try to get the originals, if possible.

Quest for Glory

followed by

Quest for Glory

and when your done try

Quest for Glory

All rabid fan boy antics aside, they where the pinnacle of point and click adventuring (cept two which was type point click type) with 4.5 games in the series and the option to bring your toon from one to the next keeping skills but changing class if you so desired your basically looking at one massive game able to fill weeks/months of your life.

*time varies due to intelligence and commitment.

The best part, the story's actually good! (weird i know) The 4.5 games is that 5 was made many moons after 4, was in full '3d' and had significantly less clicking. Still great but ... different.

1-4 you can find in a box set which i recommend as the earlier versions and a lot of the downloads have issues running on anything made after say, 1492. 5 has far less compatibility issues but was released after Sierra moved their marketing department to the lost city of Atlantis so can be hard to find.

Day of the Tentacle - An older Tim Schafer game. I actually like it more then Psychonaughts or Grim Fandango cause you know it actually plays well as a game and stuff.

Beneath A Steel Sky - Someone else mentioned this and I second that opinion. If you haven't played it you really owe it to yourself to give it a try. Think pulpy sci-fi fun in an Orwellian dystopia.

Space Quest III and IV - For all the (deserving) love the LucasArts adventure games get, I feel that Sierra's fine work goes under appreciated. Roger Wilco is just as cool as Threepwood ever was.

Broken Sword I and II - Maybe the last truly great point and click franchise. Also totally about Knights Templars and stuff.

I can't believe I didn't mention day of the tentacle, and I'll second its greatness. Space quest games definitely has its moments as well, and you'd do well to check them out.

I am going to need to check out Beneath a steel sky, and the broken sword games because of all the love their getting on this thread.

Thank you all. As as a Schafer fan, I'll probably be looking for DotT and Monkey Island games first. Then Myst probably. This Quest for Glory thing seems to have a lot of hype as well, I'll have to check that out.
I want to try out Sam and Max, because its done by Telltale, but is it only possible to get them via internet, or can I buy the actual game (i.e. it comes in a box). I also would like to TRY Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People as a Strong Bad fan, but I've heard that as far as adventure gaming goes, they're short and not that great.
I didn't know Full Throttle was an adventure game so I'll check out some reviews on that, and I've also never heard of Broken Sword, so I guess I'll have to look that up too.
One game that I've heard good things about but would like to know more about is Siberia, does anyone know anything about that game?

You can buy Sam and Max season boxes. Well worth it. Each season has 6 episodes. The second season has a lot of extras too. Quite easy games but highly entertaining.

Monkey Island, Syberia, Broken Sword, Gabriel Knight, Beneath a Steel Sky and the Longest Journey are all good. Can't recommend the Longest Journey enough, although more for story than puzzles.

forgot about Gabriel Knight, only played one of them but the mix of drawn and photo was well done, high immersion and more plot then game play. Was like reading a book that wanted you to talk sweetly to each page to get them to turn.

Even if it's not pointy-clicky, have you played Psychonauts yet?

Secret of Monkey Island is my all-time adventure game favorite.
DotT is good too, but I can't say with certainty how good since I made the error of playing it with a walkthrough back then. Kids are impatient. On the plus side, I might have actually forgotten enough to be able to replay it like it was new.
