There is no way anyone can make a coherent plot out of the convulted, radioactive crater left behind by Lindelof and co. in the "Lost" universe. They can either:

1) forget about 80% of the contradictory "mythos" they built up over the seasons (they really should have just ended by the end of season 3), but then what's the point, is it Lost anymore?

2) try to patch something from the wreck, having nothing original or "mysterious" to propel it forward, which is not doable given the mess of threads they left at the end. So again, waht's the point?

The Lost well is poisoned. I think most of the fans themselves had to push themselves to watch it to the end. I know I did, and everyone else in my life that watched the show. It was just too much invested time to just give it up.

So... Is Lost going to be the new Stargate, then?

Nonetheless, I can't seem to get behind this until it actually happens first-hand... I mean, there are more than one way to end up at a mysterious "island", right? ...RIGHT??

Yeah. Not happening. You had six seasons to explain what was going on this show and you failed. SIX SEASONS! Oh, there are explanations if you go poke around on the net and some game that ran between seasons, that explain the numbers and the island and such.

Too bad it was apparently too much trouble to integrate those answers into the show itself. But they had more then enough time for Hurley to chase a frog across the island and restore a VM minibus, or spend an entire season NOT getting them off the island after they made contact with the outside world.

Get LOST. I don't care anymore.

Some days i feel like im the only one that actually enjoyed lost. i LIKED the unanswered mysteries. i LIKED the setting. I liked the convoluted plot and while the ending was not to my liking, i can excuse it for the seasons of fun it gave me before.

Only watched series 1 and 2 and was sick of the show. They really need to let the show die.
The show IS dead. its been over for years.

It sounds like he want to make it as if it was the Caprica to Battlestar Galactica as in a preclude. I suppose that would be the better angle to go for the franchise since another similar synopsis would be somewhat distasteful given how the Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 has not been found.
considering that i completely LOVED Caprica and still reference these series from time to time id sure as hell watch that.

IMO there is nothing distasteful if real life coincides with a TV show plot. Its like just because we had 9/11 we cant make movies where planes crash - thats just stupid.
