I don't want this to turn into a flame war please.

I love Lost Odyssey, so much so that I've played through this game 4 times since I got it a year ago.
But my question is, if I like this game, will I like star ocean:the last hope? And what are Its strength and weaknesses?
Also in your opinion which one is better?
Thanks.

I love Lost Odyssey too. I've been nervous about getting Star Ocean, as well, so this thread is a godsend to me.
You know what they say. Great minds think alike. :p

I haven't complete either but I love both - my Lost Oddyey disc 4 failed on me - and I cant get enough time to play star ocean.

They are both nice and different games but if I had to choose a favourite - Lost Oddysey, the graphics rocked more, SO4 the eye movements were a bit fake thunderbird looking.

Anyone willing to give me a loan of disc 4 :p

I really didn't like Star Ocean 3 so I'm very apprehensive about 4.

Though from what I've been able to glean about the two... stick with Lost Odyssey, it's a much more mature title in theme and composition with a much more skilled hand behind its creation.

From what I've heard Star Ocean 4 suffers from poor plotting, badly stereotyped characters and worse voice acting. It's only saving grace appears to be the excellent battle system and the pretty environments.

Though it's nothing like Lost Odyssey, I can recommend Tales of Vesperia as a solid game that avoids some of the more frustrating cliches of the JRPG genre.

Lost Odyssey is amazing

Star Ocean is awful - I regret buying it.

This.

I loved Lost Odyssey and I'm currently playing through Star Ocean ATM (30 hours on Disc 3). Some characters I just want to murder, 'kay.

I've got to the point where I want the achievements more now. Battle system only carries it so far.

I loved LO but Star Ocean left me feeling meh. it felt like it was trying to win me over with pretty cutscenes that have little substance. And the backtracking dear lord the backtracking.

Lost Odyssey was incredible, one of my favorite games on the 360. Meanwhile, Star Ocean 3 wasn't all that good. Although I liked the gameplay, I didn't have the desire to want to play on once I got about halfway through disc 1.

Never played Star Ocean 4 though.
