Luftrausers: The $5000 (Maybe) Indie Arcade Game

Vlambeer says its new airborne arcade shooter Luftrausers will cost $5,000.

Luftrausers, the new game currently being made by the guys who brought us Serious Sam: The Random Encounter, looks pretty cool. It sounds pretty cool too. Imagine you're a recurring character on Hogan's Heroes - Major Hochstetter would be a great choice - and then say it out loud: "Luftrausers!" That's a quality title right there.

The game is a side-scrolling arcade shooter with an old-school "crimson and cream" color scheme featuring "Luftrausers," a uniquely aerobatic type of fighter plane that can be customized with 125 combinations of bodies, weapons and propulsion systems that affects how they fly and fight, and even what soundtrack music plays during missions. "Luftrausers is the only game in which players can build and fly a Luftrauser - the most interesting engineering achievement of mankind ever," said Vlambeer co-founder Rami Ismail. "Flying one is said to be the most amazing feeling and we wanted to bring that experience to everyone."

"For every plane that is shot down in Luftrausers I pledge to personally donate a portion of the profits from the game to an exotic dancer of my choosing," added Fork Parker, chief financial officer at publisher Devolver Digital. "Call me old-fashioned but I have soft spot in my heart for ladies willing to take their clothes off for money."

Luftrausers is being developed for the PC and Mac and is currently expected to launch in late 2012 with a suggested retail price of $5,000 (release date and price subject to change), and at that price you know it's gotta be good! You know, I'm pretty sure that I once played a flash game that looked almost exactly like this Luftrausers game. Seriously, it looks exactly like that game.

I misread the article, and thought it included a real scale Luftrauser cabinet that you could play the game in, which made the price somewhat more acceptable (still crazy though). But 5000$ for JUST A GAME? No flying models, naked strippers or anything included? Yeah I'm gonna pass.

Everyone's missing the big story here guys, there are women who take their clothes off for money!" Dude! What are we doing surfing on the internet and playing videogames? I have money, I like women, I prefer them post-clothes. Holy crap how long has this been around. Why has no one told me about this before!

That would be the predecessor Luftrauser.
I know I might be stepping "OB" on the rules here, but I feel that this might be kind of necessary...

Here's the link to the original game Luftrauser for everyone that hasn't played it yet:

(or you can just google it)

Play a few rounds and THEN tell me that you're not excited for this game.
Cause at $5000 its a steal. ;)
