What a little *****, ratting out your own people to keep yourself safe.

And playing the, "My poor Children" excuse; should of thought of that before doing it for teh lulz.
He was an informant before Lulzsec got started, I believe.

And if you seriously think he's a traitor, then you clearly don't understand how anonymity on the internet works.

Well the pointless internet anarchy was fun while it lasted, also "We're chopping off the head of LulzSec" is a fantastic line. That the FBI are made to seriously say a sentence like that is a great laugh. Am I supporting Lulzsec you ask? No, but you cant deny it was interesting.

That's terrible... I don't like Lulzsec, they're assholes, but exploiting a father's relationship with his children to make him betray his own organization... only a truly moraly bankrupt person unable to feel empathy can do that...<.<
That's not how crime and punishment works.

His options were "Go to jail, or become our informant." At no point did they say "We'll separate you from your children", that was just implied with the whole "go to jail" concept. What the FBI are (probably) saying is that his kids were the deciding factor when he made the decision to become an informant. Had he have not had kids, he probably would have gone to jail.

If anything, be happy they gave him an option instead of just throwing him in prison like they do to most criminals, children or not.

This is it for Lulzsec, but Annonymous - whose name is mentioned for some reason - has nothing to do with Lulzsec and has done "worse" (or better, depending on your perspective) and Anon is the real hydra.

You're telling me the leader of LulzSec wasn't a badass hacker righteously standing up to the Man, but a slightly nerdy dad who crumbled at the first whiff of jail time?

What a shock.

There's a reason Anonymous is, well, anonymous. They'd all rat each other out in a heartbeat if they got arrested. Lulzsec kinda forgot that.
The sad thing is, this is so friggin' true it's not even funny. Hell, when Anonymous is in full-on troll mode, they won't hesitate to troll one another. It's a wonder Anonymous gets anything done.

Now if only we could have not given a fuck when LulzSec brought down site and still kept on slagging them and posting news about them. All we did was make them feel a little bad.

If you can't do the time, etc.

I know, right? If you have a single vulnerability in a website, Lulzsec went after you. Now this is the same thing, but in real life.

Really? He broke the law. He can either go to jail or help nail more criminals (they do that with pretty much every criminal who has information on more criminals). He happened to have 2 kids and made jail even a less pleasant idea. Of course I bet even without kids he would have cracked.

So you think they should just have sent him to jail and let the others run free? That sounds way more morally bankrupt. You don't feel so bad (of course you do still send a kids dad to jail) and in the mean time more innocent people are victimized by criminals that are running free.

It's like watching Satan duke it out with a petty murderer. Completely one sided and delicious to watch.

This. Grabbing a handful of people who might be "leadership" isn't going to stop it. That's like saying "We killed Bin Laden! Terrorism is over!"
Or even before that...

I like your attitude of "We'll rise up again!" etc. etc. /snore.

However, this was a major bust, and it also proved that the supposed bastion of internet security breachers was just another guy who would easily rat out his friends. What makes you think the rest of anonymous is any different?

Monsegur, described by FoxNews.com [http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2012/03/06/hacking-group-lulzsec-swept-up-by-law-enforcement/#ixzz1oLiLkGhI] as an "unemployed, 28-year-old father of two," apparently flipped on the group in order to avoid being separated from his children. "It was because of his kids. He didn't want to go away to prison and leave them," a law enforcement official said. "That's how we got him."
This is the only thing I don't like. Threatening to leave his children without a father or as orphans is a pretty terrible thing to do.

Also want to point out that his name is freaking awesome.
What else do they do? They're not leaving his kids as orphans. He is. When you are a parent, you don't run around engaging in wish-fulfillment illegal activity to feel like an activist badass -- that's called thinking of yourself first.

He did something that sends a person to jail. Not "a person with kids" or "a person without kids." If he goes to jail, that's what happens. He owned the choice, and he owns the consequences... unfortunately, so do his kids.

Good for him, he chose the road that embarrasses him before the public, for the sake of his kids. Someone making bad decisions instead turned and made a smarter, more selfless one -- that's a sign that these kind of consequences are working.

Nice to see those wannabes getting taken down.

More room for those who actually subscribe to anonymity and it's culture to take over the world instead of those who pretend they are superheroes/supervillians.

Good luck with that.

Now the real war will begin.
This, hacking from anon users will never end. If you choose to go hard against hakers that do it for fun, some will yeild, others will just download asimetric war instructives and get better (the US army guide to asimetric warfare is specially good, legal and aviliable freely).

Regardless of how many more arrests are made because of Monsegur's cooperation, the FBI believes this spells the end of LulzSec. "This is devastating to the organization," another official said. "We're chopping off the head of LulzSec."

Good luck with that.

Well played sir, well played.

OT: i find this terrible, the thought that O'Cearrbhail is soon going to be deported to america for jail time is fucking awful. God damn this is not right!
