Ex-Anon, huh? That would make sense. I can imagine some Anons would let the idea of power get into their heads and decide, "Why not screw around with some companies I don't like? And the people using their services."

Well, is Games for Windows account and XBox Live accounts the same? If so, I might as well change my password.
It might be for the best if you do that anyway, just in case.

OT: I thought it would be a matter of time before Lulzsec attacked Microsoft. So they have hacked Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft, so I am guessing that next on their list is probably Steam.

I almost find this funny since many x-box users were laughing when it happened to sony. Not too funny now, is it?
This is doubly unfunny to those who have both a PS3 and an XBox 360.
If anyone ever gets a chance to meet one of these hackers, be sure to shake his hand for the fine job that his group did on these hacks...using a joy-buzzer...while someone spritzes him with seltzer.

I'm of the opinion if these guys wanted to actually do some harm they are likely more than able to. Are people getting their Facebook accounts hacked due to the email/password leaks? Sure, but you really shouldn't have anything all that sensitive in your Facebook account in the first place. If people followed some basic common sense security measures like not using the same password for every damn online account they have, changing your passwords every month or so, keeping sensitive info off of the internet, etc then they'd not have too much to worry about from these guys.

Admittedly they are coming off as rather trollish and I can see how some people wouldn't be down with that but I don't think they are out to do anyone any real harm. Personally I think that outside of posting the emails and passwords they haven't done anything too terribly damning. Calling people out on their Facebook page for looking at porn where all their friends and family can see it is pretty damn funny in my opinion. Forwarding thousands of calls to HB Gary is pretty damn funny too.

For now I think they are just having a bunch of somewhat mean spirited fun. As I said before I think if they wanted to do real damage they are capable but they seemed far more interesting in causing chaos and doing random shit "for the lulz".

It was never funny. People who were laughing at PSN users because their platform of choice wasn't hit were dicks then, and anyone who laughs at Xbox Live users now is also a dick.

Some of us are really wacky and have both platforms, and now have to worry about this bullshit twice. It's not funny and I'll say it again: if you think any of it is funny for any reason, you are a dick.

*sigh* Time to go change some more fucking passwords now.

This is what happens when you support hackers who steal info. They're not doing it for you're good. If they were, they wouldn't have stolen your info, much less put it on the internet.
Well looking at both their Twitter and list of releases, they didn't let that info out. They did post a little letter on the anniversary of their 1000th tweet and I must admit that I must be the only one here that doesn't hate their guts. No Xbox Live User Info,so either the person announcing the news is lying,or Lulzsec hasn't gotten to posting it yet.

Thank you for 211,000+ followers. The Lulz Boat is enjoying some quality rum with our good friend Jack Sparrow, he's quite the gentleman. :D -Lulzec Latest Tweet

So they must be taking a break or something,so stop getting your panties in a knot about every little thing these guys do,they are trolls and you keep feeding them to the point of binging.

Because random people ALWAYS want your Facebook accounts for no reason trying to hack into them right? It's a bit different when someone passes by a locked home wanting to break in than it is when someone outright gives you the damn house keys.

Yeah it is mate, same service. :-\ The whole "Live" brand (including Live Messenger for example) shares that info.

Just checked and followed a link. This site [http://dazzlepod.com/lulzsec/] has a list of compromised addresses so is probably well worth a check for anyone to see if they have been affected.
They couldn't have alphabetised that list or something could they?! then you could have easily checked your name without entering it in the search bar.

Well I guess this means Steam'll be next on their list, they've hit all the console devs.
Hopefully they actually do something to Valve instead of getting their info just to prove they can.
Valve needs to be taken down several pegs, then have sharp pegs driven through them.
whats your problem with valve?
He never bothers telling us. All I've ever got out of him is "digital distribution is the enemy, Valve runs the biggest digital distribution service, thus Valve is the enemy".

I still don't know why he hates digital distribution, especially since I think I remember him saying he's a PC gamer...
I've explained it countless times. You just don't listen.
I hate having to repeat myself, go look through my posts until you find it. My posts should be treated as gospel and memorized by everyone anyway.
And I'm a Reformed PC gamer. It just stopped being worth it, and I've never looked back.

Indeed. I have both so was not laughing the first time. And found it equally annoying the second.

I repeat the plea I made last thread: Anonymous, if you're the supporters of internet freedom you claim to be then make these fuckers a stain on the ground. I mean, they're not even funny. They're criminals. What they're doing is pretty much the plot of the last Die Hard movie, but in real life and making slightly more sense.

Meh don't care. I use pre-paid cards to get my MS points and not credit cards and I just ran out of MS points buying DLC for Just Cause 2. I didn't link my facebook account or any other worthwhile account, but I know my email is hacked, I just don't really care.

I'd say with certainty yah, if anything they probably share the same password if you linked them to the same email.

The exact amount of information released is unknown but lulsec claims that the file was viewed thousands of times before being taken down.
You should probably know that this is referring to the 62,000 emails and passwords that they released. You can check to see if you're on the list from a few sites, although I don't have the link to them. There are also many threads on this already, these news sites are merely late to the party.

Fear-mongering thread is full of fearmongering. LulzSec didn't release XboxLive info, but people are quite dumb and will use the same password to access multiple accounts. As a IT professional, I see this constantly with the reps I must assist, when they have their passwords taped to their laptops, which is not only access their work machines but many other accounts as well.

STOP BEING SO INSECURE PEOPLE AND LEARN TO PROTECT YOURSELF.

I only hope that Mr Obama or the head of the CIAs name is on that list and they make it a personal mission to not rest until every one of their arses are kicked out of their moms basements and into a court room.

You don't need to change your X-Box Live passwords unless you've used the same e-mail and password for that hacked porn site (and other random sites) as you do for X-Box Live, and if your e-mail and password appeared on the list.

X-Box Live wasn't hacked, Lulzsec only have the user info of X-box Live users who use the same e-mail and passwords for multiple websites.

This isn't a new occurrence, it's the same list of 62,000 names and passwords that was released a few days ago, it's just being misreported to imply that X-Box Live users have been specifically targeted, when in fact they haven't.

If any X-Box users have had their login information published, then it's just a coincidence and a consequence of using the same e-mail and password as they have done on the hacked sites.

There's a lot of interesting and relevant information in this Gamefaqs thread [http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/927749-xbox-360/59477810] on the subject, including links to Major Nelson and Lulzsec saying that X-Box Live hasn't been targeted or breached, and speculation that this entire rumour was started and spread by a discredited SDF troll.

I couldn't even finish reading the first page of this thread because it was makin' me facepalm all up in this ************.

If anybody at any point in this thread tried to explain lulzsec's actions with anything other than 'for the lulz' then that person is an idiot. Bonus idiot points if that person hasn't even read their twitter feed and made assumptions based on forum posts in a thread linking to a questionable news source.
