Are there any songs that you find bring back strong memories or emotional responses from you about your life? There are two that really get to me when I hear them. The first one is:
OK, so my name's not Elizabeth and I don't have a cat, but this song really gets to me. I have had quite extensive experience of depression and suicidal thoughts, so whenever I hear this it brings a lot of those memories back. Oddly enough though, it doesn't feel too bad to think about it sometimes.
One song that I really can't listen to though is this:
I really don't know why, but this song always reminds me of my grandfather. He died two years ago from Alzheimer's disease. Every time I hear it I think of his funeral and have some kind of vision of his ghost walking away from me (I don't believe in ghosts though). Pretty messed up, right?
Anyway, post any song lyrics that remind you of important times/events in your life, or just ones you feel are personally significant to you! It doesn't have to be (mostly) negative like my ones, they can be about good times too! =)
EDIT: OK, just a couple of rules people:
1. If you're posting a lot of lyrics please place them in spoiler tags, as it makes the thread less wall-o-texty!
2. Please say why the song is significant to you/your life to the greatest degree to which you are comfortable.
Laying on the bathroom floor
Kitty licks my cheek once more
And i could try
But waking up is harder when you wanna die
Walter's on the telephone
Tell him i am not at home
'cause i think that i am going
To a place where i am always high
My name's Elizabeth
My life is shit and piss
Kitty licks my cheek once more
And i could try
But waking up is harder when you wanna die
Walter's on the telephone
Tell him i am not at home
'cause i think that i am going
To a place where i am always high
My name's Elizabeth
My life is shit and piss

One song that I really can't listen to though is this:
As the cheerless towns pass my window
I can see a washed out moon through the fog
And then a voice inside my head, breaks the analogue
And says
"Follow me down to the valley below You know
Moonlight is bleeding from out of your soul"
I survived against the will of my twisted folk
But in the deafness of my world the silence broke
And said
"Follow me down to the valley below You know
Moonlight is bleeding from out of your soul"
"My David don't you worry
This cold world is not for you
So rest your head upon me
I have strength to carry you"
(Ghosts of the twenties rising Golden summers just holding you)
"Follow me down to the valley below You know
Moonlight is bleeding from out of your soul
Come to us, Lazarus
It's time for you to go"
I can see a washed out moon through the fog
And then a voice inside my head, breaks the analogue
And says
"Follow me down to the valley below You know
Moonlight is bleeding from out of your soul"
I survived against the will of my twisted folk
