i actually never heard of mad cats before, but i never really buy special controllers that only work to one game, but it seems like a understandable move, nothing can ruin a game like a law suit, like we heard that activision did to brutal legend.

it's kinda hard knowing what to feel, i cant really feel bad for an faceless cooperation because they dint make some money that could have made if they could look in to the future, i mean i would be depressed all the time.

so, law suing sucks and delay or crush the creative minds, stop copyrighting every idea and name you can think of dear video game industry.
They make the memory sticks for various sony game consoles.

Wow, going through this thread, it seems Mad Catz is all hit or miss on anything peripheral. I think I'll give them a miss.

This reminds me of how Will Smith actually passed up the role of Neo in the Matrix because he thought it would flop.

It's one of those things, it was the best idea at the time.
Thank goodness he did then. As good an actor as he might have been, I don't think he'd have performed the role as well as Keanu did

Indeed. For the appalling lack of range Keanu has, the role of Neo felt custom made for him. Can't really think of anyone else to be Neo, especially not on the first movie.

I have to admit, when Guitar Hero 1 itself came out, and we bought it as a birthday present for one of the family members, i honestly thought the concept itself sucked. Of course, i only played it for 10 minutes, so you can imagine the frustration i had playing it on the lowest difficulty.

While we're on the subject of Mad Catz, fuck them. Seriously, i bought a PlayStation 2 controller from them that looks like a classic NES controller, and that piece of shit stopped working properly after a week of playing with it. The original controllers bought in 2000 still work fine to this day.

Their accessories suck, and im glad they had nothing to do with Guitar Hero. If they did, anybody who has had the guitar hero series would've had to pay an extra 80 bucks to replace the guitars.

"I screwed up. LOL." I never liked Mad Catz's products, but give the guy some credit. The company missed out on being able to wipe their ass with toilet paper made out of $100 bills, but he's kind hearted about it.

What a trooper.

Ow... tough break.

Not much more to say on it really.
Though, for the guy to be so gracious after missing out on such a huge amount of money is worthy of respect.

Well, people tend to hate on anything that becomes successful and mainstream, especially since when the mainstream gets involved so do a lot of people who are basically retarded who while playing seriously unintentionally make a mockery out of what serious gamers were doing. In general if someone is dumb enough, they can make anyone want to distance themselves from anything simply to avoid association. When it goes beyond one avoidable person or example and you see a ton of it... well... that's when the downward spiral of a successful franchise happens and a fad dies. I however do not doubt this genere of game will always be present to some extent and indeed "guitar game" fanatics will continue to follow the genere even if it becomes extremely obscure, lurking in the shadows to avoid mockery.... and heck, maybe there will even be a resurgence when these guys will briefly be able to admit they kept playing at some point. :p

Without knowing many of the details I'm not entirely sure how Madcatz would have fared in this entire thing. Their products are a mixed bag, and success on the Xbox platform would have relied on them producing a high enough quality product to compete with the guitars being made for other systems (if I understand the deal they had). So really, it would have been a roll of the dice since I could see Madcatz getting lazy (sorry guys) and producing junk as they sometimes do, sinking the franchise, and costing themselves more money. Impossible to second guess.

Still, I can see where they are coming from in saying this was a bad idea.

Or how Fox gave George Lucas the rights to Star Wars because they thought it would fail
