Why are people still buying these games? They are paying 60$ for an expansion pack.Come on people!
Actually, the amount of work that goes into these games is surprising. People who say sports games haven't evolved in the past decade are ignorant to say the least. What do you expect them to innovate? The game has to follow a set of real life rules.

Football players get hurt all the time I wouldn't chalk it up to a curse at all. That's exactly what it comes down to though; whenever the slightest misfortune happens to Peyton Hillis people are just going to say "IT'S THE MADDEN CURSE! SEE!"
It's actually even cooler than that. Because the Madden box cover people have to be the very best to get on the cover the only way for them to go is down. They can either be as good as they are or worse than the are so there's actually more likelihood of them having a worse than normal season than a middling player whose got the chance of improving as well.

Besides that, if you're good than you're throwing yourself into the thick of it and making yourself a target. If people struggle to stop you running they're more likely to do it messily. If you're hard to stop they'll assign their biggest guy to stop you
