As excited as I am for the Mafia remake, it's pretty obvious that Hangar 13 missed the point of what made the game great in the first place.
Some of the changes to mission structure are just terrible. Too much reliance on scripted events, whereas the original game allowed players to abuse the game's system in logical ways. For example, you could block the enemies from existing the building in "Molotov Party" by parking your car right in front of the back entrance. Now you can't. In the mission "Ordinary Routine" you could shoot out the tires of the car that would in a later sequence be used by one of the enemies to escape. Now you can't. The game wants to have its cinematic sequences, so fuck the players.
Combat looks to be exactly the same as in Mafia 3. And Mafia 3 combat if fuckin' terrible. IMHO, they should have copied Mafia 2 combat. To this day, it's probably one of the best, if not THE BEST third person open world shooter. Every gun in Mafia 2 felt unique and it felt authentic. Not to mention that the player felt vulnerable. In Mafia 3 it just didn't matter what gun you used and Lincoln was pretty much Rambo or Jason Bourne. He was unstoppable. And it looks to be that way in Mafia remake as well. Horrible, absolutely horrible combat system.
Prince of Persia doesn't have any of these issues. It's a very elegant game with very few mechanics, so it's hard to imagine what they could get wrong. It is a lot easier to get it right. I think it's pretty obvious that it will be a better remake, because it will stay true to the original a lot more than Mafia remake.
And this is how you argue in favor or against something.
