Not so sure I am a fan of getting random card pools for micro-transactions. Couldn't they offer virtual booster packs we could use to build custom constructed decks? I think post Magic players would prefer that.

It's about time they added custom deck building to the game but it's disappointing that it's so limited. I'm curious whether you have to play with 6 random boosters every single time you want to play sealed or if you get to keep the cards from previous boosters you have opened.

I mean hell, even the GameBoy Color Pokemon card games allowed you to collect cards from boosters you got by defeating NPCs in the game and they even offered a total of 445 cards to collect. I suppose the mechanics behind the games are very different and the effects of MTG much more varied, but I still wish they'd offer a similar kind of game.

Oh well, very much looking forward to playing this. It's becoming ever more difficult to get a group together to play with in real life these days. I'm assuming they'll be including some GateCrash and Dragon's Maze in it? I'd like to play around with some of those evolve and unleash cards a bit more.

Customized deck building is good, but does the game give you the ability to tweak the amount of Land cards you can put in a customized deck? Too often, I've played DotP games where I end up drawing a long string of unneeded mana, so it'd be nice to economize the Land you can use.

and a Red, White, and Green Sliver deck. Oh, yeah, there's a Sliver deck, chock full of M14's latest addition to the sliver family. This is probably only exciting for a small subsection of the players out there, but it is really exciting for them.
Eeeeyup, count me as one of those "really excited" to get my hands on those nasty little buggers known as Slivers. I used to have a VICIOUS five-color sliver deck that just pissed all my friends off every time I brought it out. >:D

In other news, the Eldrazi have returned! Rather than being a "big beastie" deck that just happened to have a couple Eldrazi in it (i.e. the Ancient Depths deck in 2012), it's going to be a right-proper Eldrazi deck. Sadly, though, it won't have any of The Big Three (Ulamogg, Kozalek, or what's-his-face...the guy that can't be countered, has protection from colored spells, and gives you a free turn when you summon him). Instead it has a good handful of the smaller Eldrazi and one of my favorite enchantments in the game; Eldrazi Conscription (enchanted creature gets +10/+10 and has Annihilator 2).

Now if they'd only bring in a ninja/samurai deck from the Kamigawa expansion.......well.......suffice to say I'd need a clean pair of shorts... :p

Beyond that, anyone wanting to get look at the 10 decks that will be available, they've been posted on the MTG forums here:

From what I've seen so far, you get a free Sealed Set to begin with (six free sealed packs to make your deck) with 3 additional packs unlocked in the sealed campaign. I had thought that I heard you get two free sealed-deck slots, but apparently you just get one and have to microtransaction for more.

That sounds a bit better. Way back when I used to play Magic the store I went to used to do 3-pack sealed draft tournaments, so I imagine having x3 as many cards to pick from will yield better decks. Draft decks should never be used in constructed play XD

I used to love going to draft tournies...until the shop that I went to changed management and the new management was a bunch of dicks. xP

Hehehe, my favorite draft deck that I was able to build was something I called my "Stall for the Fish" deck. It was mono-blue and had a lot of stuff designed just to gum up the works for my opponent. Think it had 3 Wall of Frost (0/7 wall that makes it so that anything it blocks doesn't untap during the owner's next untap phase), a couple Sleep spells (taps all of an opponent's creatures and they don't untap during the owner's next untap phase). Some good ol' counterspells and bounce cards. Just stuff meant to slow the other guy down until I could get out the centerpiece of the deck: the Stormtide Leviathan. He's an 8/8 Islandwalk that makes it so that all lands are islands in addition to whatever they are normally, and only creatures with Islandwalk or Flying can attack. Considering the very limited selection of creatures in a draft format, that can be pretty devastating.

Add to it the three Harbor Serpents (5/5 Islandwalk, can't attack unless there's 5 or more islands on the board) that I'd have lying in wait for the big fish to come out, and yeah, it was a fun little deck. :3

I'm willing to bet that on PC you can get a new sealed pack by... misplacing... your save file.

I'm willing to bet they're going to store that kind of data server-side >.>

One can dream, however!

I'd agree with you, but I don't think the game requires an internet connection of any sort to play after the initial download.

You could be right. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I agree that a booster system would be preferable to what they're doing, though I think I'll like this setup better than MTG online.

Ah well, I'm just happy I can build a shippy Jace X Chandra deck. *such a girl*
