Reminds me of the story about the guy who was stranded on his roof in the middle of a flood. A guy in a rowboat comes by and offers him help, but the man says "No thanks, God will save me." A little while later helicopters come to his roof and throw down a rope, and again he says, "No thanks. God will save me." So, the water rises and the man drowns. Up in Heaven, the man meets God and asks why God did nothing to save him, no matter how much faith he had and how much he prayed. God just looked at him and said, "What are you talking about, first I sent a guy in a rowboat, and then a helicopter!"rutger5000 said:Yeah I know, science it works bitches. Try to do that by praying to God. (No offence to religious people. But when you don't accept medical treatment because of your believe is something else then science, then you deserve what's coming to you. If you refuse it for your children, then you should be ignored.)
What? You want to herald in the End Times?shadyh8er said:I feel like this is appropriate:
Oh I'm not saying it will be easy, we'd have to put the cancer into remission before we could overwhelm it for a start, but that's such an amazing stepping stone hurdled.Mr.K. said:There is a wide variety of stem cells, obtaining skin cells is no problem as we will always have those, but for limbs/organs you need to obtain stem cells from a fetus, and what such action would do to you is a wild guess (you may very well end up without a limb), for the most part stem cell research is still mostly trial and error.
I thought about a medigun turret that can snipe burn victims from across the city when I saw that. That Guy Who Phails said:
Yeah, eventually this could lead to guns to heal other organs, it seems like it'd be similar because both involve stem cells. I think that's a more exciting possibility, but still it's amazingRatRace123 said:TAHT'S AWESOME!!! (So awesome that it made me misspell "that") Seriously, that's amazing.
The technology involved could be the first step to the healing of other organs as well.
Plus, from an entirely geeky viewpoint, it's friggin' cool!
Clearly, you've never been affected by Kitten Rot.Cogwheel said:Only if you want a more efficient way to wear the skins of your enemies or something. Dwarves don't need a medigun. Or healing. They'll just walk/drink it off.lacktheknack said:I'm afraid to click the video, it looks gross.
But really? Spraypainting your skin back on? Dwarf Fortress absolutely needs this.
Dammit! Nerfed again!Booze Zombie said:One step to medi-gel!
I just hope the Reapers don't come about.
