Major Nelson's Xbox Live Account Hacked

Microsoft has confirmed that Xbox Live Director of Programming Larry Hryb, better known as Major Nelson [http://majornelson.com/], had his Live account hacked over the weekend, but it shouldn't be too hard to track down the perpetrators - they posted their contact info online.

While the Major was off attending Microsoft [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/99536-PAX-East-2010-The-Tale-of-the-Shirt] to track him down.

And it certainly looks like the company has an interest in doing so. In Twitter posts made yesterday, Stephen Toulouse, Microsoft's director of Xbox Live policy and enforcement, added [http://twitter.com/Stepto/status/11237428328], "Looks like this was very specific and very targeted to Major. I'll look into the details and report back later."

Thanks to the generosity of the morons behind the attack, he probably won't have to look very hard.

Hacking the account of a High Profile XBL person is one thing. Making a video an pretty much offering all your contact info is just another level of stupidity...

Have fun getting hunted down, fined and probably put in jail by MS..

Dumbass.

Who would be stupid enough to post their details?

People really don't like the XBL team do they?

First it was Stepto then the PRO and now Major Nelson.

Wow... The guy really had the gall to hack an account as high profile... You would think he'd have it in his mind of the risk he's taking by nature of whose account he hacked and the company he works for, but it really doesn't seem like the case with how he's posted information that would allow them to track him down. Oh, I can't wait to see what happens to him when Microsoft catches the guy...

You guys realize that the hackers posted the contact information of someone they don't like, right? People aren't THAT stupid (and I'm a cynic).

Poor old Major Nelson...

I bet he's wishing his account stayed hacked after today's fiasco with MW2.

Have fun in the Microsoft mines!

Today's fiasco?

What happened this time?
The DLC map pack has broken the game and no one can play it, whether or not they downloaded the DLC.

I doubt the hackers posted anything remotely close to their real info.

Having been in many meetings with actual Microsoft staff, I have zero doubt that they are absolutely convinced the hackers did.
