Is this the next step in anti-piracy methods?

Enticing users with drugs seems a much better solution than DRM :D

Hmm, methinks a plot is afoot by the major game publishers! Think about it: A spate of used games turning up with drugs. Of course, the used game sales have been cited as a source of dwindling profits for the publishers as they aren't getting a cut of these used game sales.

The answer: Discredit used games by any means necessary! This is just the beginning!

Shit, I knew I should've rented Heavy Rain / God of War 3 today. I could've gotten free drugs ;_;

So, this is the 2nd story in the last few days where a irresponsible father bought a game that is way too mature for his son, and then acts like he is just a normal and caring parent when his kid finds drugs.

"My God! My son is old enough for hookers, violence, and animated drug use aplenty, but my God, when he finds some tablets that look strange, I want someone's head to roll!"

But yes, I do agree, employees need to check for this shit more often.

You idiots are missing the point.

If some stashes on illegal substance into a game, returns it, and no one notices it, who's to say that a more dangerous substance can't be hidden?

Quit jumping on the "hurr marijuana is OK!" train and think, for Christ's sake.

More than likely, one of the employees forgot the stash and accidentally placed it inside the case. It's just funny as all hell to see people up in arms about a dime bag.

This exact same thing happened to me. I bought a used copy of WTF from Gamestop, and when I opened it I found a bunch of loose marijuana in the box and inside the UMD. I took it back to the store and asked if I could exchange it for a copy that wouldn't get me arrested. We laughed our asses off. Before you ask, there was barely enough for a couple of puffs, so I didn't see the point of keeping it.

Know we know the second bussines of blockbuster

Apparently that's a popular place to hide stash

Videogame companies have to recover losses from piracy in some way.

As an employee of Blockbuster, I don't understand how the weed wasn't noticed. The discs are kept out of the cases and the cases should be checked before we scan them, so how did they NOT notice the bad of weed?

I did loads of marijuana in my time so I can confirm that it tastes like sweets, especially with some sugar.

Slow day in the news, eh Sun?

How is this newsworthy ?
The stash could of been in anything really, including a video rental box or in a cover of a book...scratch that weed smokers wouldnt be reading a book, though the book owner may find a few pages missing.

... or is this cleary a case of evil gaming industry uses drugs to cause gaming addiction, luring in young innocents into a spiral of substance abuse and evil gameplay.

Probably. I can't imagine them taking the game, and not checking the case to ensure nothing was missing or broken from it without realizing it had weed inside. The only ways it makes sense if if it was an employee's weed, or if the employee who put the game back on the shelf was incredibly unobservant, and failed to notice the weed.

Also, you'd think they would smell it. Must not have been very good weed if they couldn't.
