Seems it's not a war crime or anything
Seems a bit weird you can piss on dead guys but not shoot them with a hollowpoints

Man that's sad.

Completely disrespectful and unprofessional. Although from the many years the war has gone on, this isn't the first time something like this has happened, and other thing have been much worse.

Seems like a good reason for disciplinary action. It doesn't help the war effort and it provides the enemy with propaganda material.

I can't imagine their superiors will be happy with this. But I don't see anything inherently wrong with the act, apart from it being disrespectful to most cultures.

that sort of shit is totally uncalled for. it should hit the news soon. i just sent the link to a few news services.

what these idiots dont understand is that this single act is going to put the whole muslim world into an uproar and there will be MORE attacks and violence on coalition troops because of it. people will die because of their actions

There's nothing ILLEGALLY wrong about it, but it is a morally reprehensible act. I thought we were better than this.

It was proven and documented that the Taliban used torture techniques. While this isn't acceptable at all it's not like there saints either. True, we used torture to but...you know what? Nobody is innocent in all of this. Does it really matter? I can't prove it but I wouldn't have a hard believing that there wasn't at least one Taliban member who pissed on captured soldiers. I'm sure there's a long un-storied history of soldiers peeing on enemy soldiers dead. Is this a deplorable act to do and film? Yes. Have much worse more disrespectful things been done by both Taliban and American forces? Yes. I still don't have much sympathy for anyone who is a member of a group where strapping bombs to one's self and exploding themselves in crowded areas filled with civilians isn't somewhat looked down upon but this still shouldn't have happened. Has it happened before? Probably. Will it happen again? Probably.

They're not exactly the sharpest tools in the shed if they let themselves be recorded.

But hey, don't need a brain to be cannon fodder.

Let's be honest here, I respect what some soldiers do, and I mean no disrespect to those who have pride in their work and uphold the integrity of their unit and their country while on operations.

But some people are just bullet sponges, a distraction so the real soldier can get shit done.

Well that is just wrong, Sadly things like this get more publicity than the bravery of some soldiers...

huh, i think this calls for another "why do people hate us glorious americans?" thread.

see, killing them is fine, you can always say "i take no pleasure in that, i had to do this".
what they did, they cannot explain beside "well, we just went on taliban safari and this is my trophy"
funny thing, they hurt themselves a bit, and their friends a lot more by doing this. you just gave another psychopath ANOTHER reason to murder entire garrison. congratulations, here is your medal for bravery.

I did 4 years in the Marines and you know what I found out in that span of time?

Marines are mostly scum. A good number of them are the exact opposite of the sort of people the GP (General Population) think would join up. Of course there are a few decent people here and there as well (as with any facet of society, really), but all things considered, the majority of people I met during my time in the corps were not the greatest.

I guess that's just my long-winded way of saying that I'm not surprised by this video. I've seen stuff just as bad in person, honestly.

Your afraid the media frenzy it will cause will put the muslim world in uproar and cause an increase in attacks, so why link it to the news services yourself? people will die because of your actions

for the record, really think those guys should be sent home, or court marshalled or something.

Ron Paul 2012, the only candidate that wants to get us out of Vietnam 2.0.

Anyway, I'm not going to watch the video, but I don't think that this video nearly compares to the damage we've done first-hand, with the blood of hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians on our hands. Iraq now has over 5 million orphans, which is half of the children there. It's disgusting, and it's our fault for being there for 10 years. Afghanistan isn't much better.

While I think what these guys have done is nothing short of reprehensible, I think I can 'get' it. There are two explanations, as I see it (Though of course, there could be more). 1 is that they are just assholes. There are assholes in every facet of life, and these guys being marines doesn't make them immune to that fact. Assholes would do this.

The 2nd...well think of it like this: These guys are thousands of miles from home, fighting in a hot, dry land where every person could be out to kill them. They've seen friends gunned down and blown up, and have dodged death themselves. And now, after all that, they let off some steam in the least appropriate way possible. Again: This is morally reprehensible. But I can 'get' why they might think this is something they should do.

Not an excuse, merely a possible explanation.

They should be disciplined, unquestionably.

Weird how pictures of graphic erotic situations between consenting adults (or even ADVOCATING such things) is totally banned here but watching a bunch of marines flop out their genitals and pee on some corpses is a-ok and attracts no mod wrath whatsoever...

Look, I voted for your right to post porn clips.

There's only so much I can do, when are you just going to let it go?

It's not my fault dammit!
