Marvel Studios Boss Talks Guardians/Avengers Team Up

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige thinks it would be fun for Rocket Raccoon to meet Captain America.

With Marvel effortlessly connecting all of its superhero films in one cinematic universe, it's assumed that in an interview with IGN [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/avengers], he isn't making any promises:

You know, the fun about The Avengers, as we we're gearing up to that, was how would Tony Stark deal with goody two-shoes Steve Rogers in World War II? What would Tony Stark think of a Norse god who wields a hammer? The brilliance of Joss [Whedon] was having fun with that. So who knows if and when these guys would ever connect, but it is fun thinking about, how would Steve Rogers react to Rocket? Or, you're right, Drax couldn't even have a conversation with Tony Stark! I have a theory that the more time Drax spends with Peter Quill, the more he's going to start to learn, perhaps, that people aren't always as literal as his species would assume.

Feige was also asked if supreme baddie Thanos [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/thanos] (voiced by Josh Brolin) needs to demonstrate the full scope of his evilness and might, since it's presumed the Marvel films are building up to a big fight against its superheroes and the galactic tyrant.

I don't know. The truth is, anything I say would be a spoiler, frankly, on that. I don't think it's required. I think you could go right into a Thanos-centered movie and tell the audience anything you need to know. But the fun of our universe is that the characters can pop up in multiple franchises, so... perhaps.

What would you want to see if and when The Avengers meet the Guardians of the Galaxy? I admit, the prospect of seeing Rocket Raccoon exchange banter with Tony Stark would be a sight to see.

They'd never get anything done, what, with spending all their time showing off their guns to each other.

And just like that I've inspired someone to create creepy furry fan fiction, haven't I?

Yeah I guess humanity could stop taking things so literally. What? Drax the Destroyer is a modified human and you know it.

You're asking the wrong questions. What you should be asking yourselves is:
How eloquent an exchange would Groot have with The Hulk?
or
Would having Gamora and Black Widow in Avengers 3 be enough to pass the Bechdel test or would they need Pepper Pots/Jane Foster/Maria Hill to assist?

People on the internet already made the joke about Rocket and the Winter Soldier, and I've got to say that's all I care about occuring should a crossover happen.

Meh.

I like them as separate entities - I like Thanos tying into Avengers and Guardians but I think the Avengers should be limited to Earth. Guardians space opera setting is far more interesting and I don't want that adventurous feeling tainted by the Earth-centric Avengers.

Of course a cross over will happen. The comics did it, emh did it, the movies will do it. And it'll be glorious.

People really should watch Earths Mightiest Heroes, I swear that animated series is like a giant "what if" of ideas the movies are going to explore eventually.

I want to see the Avengers member reacting to Groot!

Also I would loved to see how Peter will react to the technologies (no more tape cassete) and the music he had missed out growing up in space.

As interesting as it might sound on paper I get the whole Marvel's Expendables feeling with something like this happening. I don't believe in the "too many heroes/villains" causes a movie to be bad, but it does split the movie into what feels like a whole bunch of cameos and one or two central characters. Now if they were to have a character show up in the next Avengers or Guardians of the Galaxy movie I would definitely be more interested in that.

He's so vague but he has to be. Its pretty much a fore gone conclusion that Avengers 3 is Thanos and that the Guardians and Avengers will get drawn into it. The only question is how. Of course we all could be wrong and he pulls the rug out from under us again like he did with Avengers 2. Still no matter what happens the best way to go about it would be to the Guardians and Avengers at the end of their movies be heading towards Thanos. Like the last solo earth based movie they all meet and start heading towards Thanos. Then you wouldn't have to mark time and can just jump right into the story.

Star-Lord: "This is Earth? Damn, I've missed way too much."

Cap (puts a hand on his shoulder): "Friend, I'm still working through 1976."

Star-Lord (takes out his mix-tapes): "Got ya covered."

I like that Marvel Movies can share a universe without having to all come together in the Avengers now. It adds to the vastness of the whole project and makes it that much more awesome.

Besides between the Avengers, the Guardians, Agents of Shield, and Netflix's upcoming Defenders series, the third Avengers will quickly become an incomprehensible mess if every hero in the MCU became an Avenger at one point or another.

I don't exactly believe that. I could be a very well photoshoped image.

That's all but confirmed to be fake. If Marvel Entertainment was going to announce the whole Phase 3 list they would have done it at Comic Con but they didn't. That image came about around the second day of comic con after all the release dates were announced, but there is no evidence of any of them except Doc Strange, Guardians 2, Avengers 3 (no subtitle) and Antman

Also Avengers 3: Civil War pretty much proves it fake as Avengers 3 is going to be about Thanos, not a war over secret identities that no character in the MCU currently have.

Now I'm just picturing Drax, Groot, and the Hulk standing in a circle staring at each other. Done right, it could be one of the most hilarious scenes in the movie.

I have... No regrets... as well as my curent go-to source for anything Marvel-related... (And now, I need to re-watch this series again...)

OT: Avengers 3 or bust for this crossover to even happen in the first... and yes, after Thanos is taken care of, we'll never see these two teams together again until the pending "Skrull Invasion", which better have Captain/Ms Marvel involved in some way, shape, or form...

*Peter listens to Eminem's Forget About Dre song*
*starts trying to rap along to Eminem's part*
Peter: I think I can dig this...
