I remember all the people on this site where saying how mass effect 2 would never come to the ps3 and that it was just a rumor.

More people get to play ME2. This is a good thing. Though they had to wait a full year after everyone else played it, they were hopefully able to avoid spoilers. Though no ME1? That's unfortunate. Maybe that "Extra content" will do something about this, I dunno.

Wait, exclusive bonus content? As an xbox owner, I'm jealous. Although I suspect it will appear as DLC sooner or later for the 360.
It still seems idiotic to not release Mass Effect 1 on the PS3 whilst they're at it, though. Although if I remember rightly, Microsoft published it, so I can't see it making an appearance any time soon. But any PC on the market nowadays should be able to run it.
The current theory on the bioware boards is that the "bonus content" will take the form of the pre-existing DLC, like Overlord, being packaged in-box.

Though sony may end up with brand new stuff after all, which will cause me to shake my fist in defiance, followed by checking PS3 prices in my area.
If only I had more of that mythical substance known as money, I too would be checking PS3 prices. There are a fair few exclusives I want to play... Also, I need a blu-ray player at some point, it might as well play games too.
If this new ME2 content is indeed exclusive though, and isn't just a brief prequel, I shall join you in your fist-shaking.

Wow, a lot of PS3 flaming here.
People have to make themselves feel better about their choice in console. Although this really does a lot to drag down that reputation as "last bastion of intelligence on the internet" arguement if we can't get along for the four seconds it takes to announce an exclusive like ME2 is going to PS3 finally.
No one here seems to be able to comprehend that the 'Exclusive Content' could be a 'sort of' prequel. But ah well, I was more interested in Dragon Age: Ultimate Edition.

So basically PS3 owns the 360 in al shapes and forms. mass Effect was the only game that wasn't a generic shooter and now that its coming to PS3 the only thing we're mssing is Fable...

I hope they don't bring that shit to.
I think you are forgetting Metro 2033, Alan Wake, Halo Wars (not a shooter) and Mass Effect 1. And whar's wrong with shooters if they are good?

I personally am one of those everyone gets to play, yay, hippies so I don't see much point in immediately going in a war with the other console because both get to play a game.

I don't know what to say I like the idea of getting rid of exclusives but it's just that it's going to make ps3 fanboys act more immature

If Bioware has any say in it I can't see the PS3 getting content other versions wouldn't. They try to follow the words of Wil Wheaton.

This is cool and all, but without the first game you're missing out on a lot. The Mass Effect series is essentially one big game, whatever decisions you make in one, has an effect on the next. I personally would hate starting a new game on Mass Effect 2 and being stuck with the default story settings. It's much more interesting and fun to bring over your save files.

I just don't see how Microsoft is going to recover from this one. Their last good exclusive is Gears of War (unless you are already a Halo or Dead Rising fan, it is highly unlikely you will buy an Xbox just for those.) Mass Effect was one of the few titles that was actually getting people to switch over to Xbox. The Move is shaping up better than the Kinect, PS+ is shaping up better than XBL Gold, and Sony is getting Castle Crashers and already has Trine, InFamous, God of War, Heavy Rain... And on top of all that, BluRay caught on like wildfire while HD-DVD tanked.

I've been with the Xbox since the beginning but things are looking pretty bleak.

I think you are forgetting Metro 2033 (never heard of it), Alan Wake (MGS4), Halo Wars (don't mntion crappy spinoffs please) (not a shooter) and Mass Effect 1 (played on 360 but this is the only gme worh mentioning). And whar's wrong with shooters if they are good? (There are equally good if not better shooters on PS3)

As many have said...why would they release ME2 before ME1? Especially if they're going to add the "save your save files like from the first game"? That makes no sense that they'd release the first before the 2nd, does it?

Though this is a HUGE blow to the 360, who was able to boast ME saying "look what we got and you dont, we got it and you do not hahahahaha!" Because now they may have the first, but where there is one, there's another

The line between the 2 systems is now bluring, and Sony can easily take the lead and be the exclusive system to get with just a few great games. And unless Microsoft can get some big exclusives to hold up, they've fallen behind in the big war of exclusives

Surprised?
I never understand the schadenfreude that follows console exclusivity but when the exclusivity is lost, I think there are only a few people (in the game press) who blow it way out of proportion. Same thing happened when ff13 went multi. Most people didn't care but everyone from G4 to the Escapist were saying it was fightin' words.

Personally, I already played the first one on the pc and didn't really feel compelled to play the second one. I wasn't very impressed with Dragon Age either so I guess they're just not my bag.

I wouldn't care about this news if I just didn't buy a PS3 to compliment my Xbox. Mass Effect was to be on my xbox while [some other PS3 exclustive] would be on my playstation. I'm not upset because PS3 is getting it, I am upset that my Xbox is becoming more useless. Of course, I have all my playthroughs, so that should count for something.

Very good news. Now even those who picked the PS3 over the 360 can enjoy ME2 just as I have. Nice one guys, this one is a goody.
