I'm actually just happy that the scenes are actually different based on which person you have a relationship with instead of just the characters doing the exact same thing.

Don't agree there. Sometimes a good sex scene can almost make the story. Consider Sam Lowry's scene in Brazil, or for a more complete action Wild Things, Cruel Intention, Rear Window, The Hunger or even Brokeback Mountain.

Granted, 9 times out of 10 they're only titillation, and 8.5 of those are simply pink bits flapping like grunting turkeys; but I wouldn't be too quick to disregard the idea of a powerful sex scene.
Yup, that's why I put "sometimes." I'm not counting it out as something which can be significant by any means.

They should have had more graphics sex scenes in ME2 just to stick it to Fox. Or they could have at least SHOWN TALIS FACE! I want to know what Quarians look like under those masks :(
Actually in the games concept art, they have a picture of a quarians face.
I don't know what the huge fuss is about, she just looks human like.

OT:
Isn't it common knowledge that developers make what the heck they want? It only looks like they are bending to the gamers will, because we are paying for the game, but ultimately it's not our decision.

So they wanted the underwear thing in DA:O? I mean come' on that looked redonkulous. I am a big fan of the "sideboob, fade to black leave it to the imagination" type scene but the whole underwear thing was slightly offputting and looked silly. Which is not the word you should be using when describing those scenes (well except in Zev's case).

Ok yeah this is pretty much bullshit. Bioware puts in and takes out whatever the publisher wants them to. If the publisher nixes something then all Bioware can do is cut it out. The one that holds the pursestrings ultimately controls everything and trying to claim otherwise is just flat out lying. I'm not claiming thats what happened with the removing of the possibility of having homosexual encounters but yeah.

On the other hand, its a fucking science fiction space opera. Its not like there's a lot of artistic integrity to hold on to, so who gives a shit?

i have no issue with sex in games but i have 1 issue with bioware's sex scenes in both mass effect 2 and DA:O , they keep their clothes on while doing it ...no matter what....
i dont care if it fades to black or what ever but if your gona show 5-10 seconds of it adlist have the dissency(sp?) to remove some clothing, because it looks bad enough with the weird animations and all but watching em dry humping each other is just awkward .....

nice they say this, and if i were working there, i'd still not want tits in the games mostly because graphics aren't perfect, so it's like a cartoon, and that's kind of sick
What exactly is "sick" about it? They are crafted to look like geniune people (or aliens). Honestly they more resemble real people than "cartoons."
No they cartoons. Anatomically correct cartoons but ultimately they are cartoon titties.

Thank god they didn't put nudity in, it would have been very tacky.

So are the airbrushed models in Playboy.

Do people still buy Playboy by the way? I mean, with all the internet porn out there I assumed they'd have gone out of business by now.

Ah, by the sentence structure I thought you said they were all pointless, but sometimes were titillating. My error.

The real way to deal with it though is to actually get some porn actors/actresses in. Candy Suxx in GTA:VC was Jenna Jameson, for instance. They spend their days learning how to "work it", so they might have a little knowledge on what works?

I for one support Bunky the wonder clown. As he is even more raunchy than Krusty the Clown.
If Bunky says the jigglies are good enough for him it's good enough for the good old USA.

In my opinion I felt that the love scenes were better in Mass Effect 2, they seemed carried more of an emotional connection between the characters. The scene in the first game just seemed awkward and maybe a little out of place, but that's just me.
Gotta agree, though I've only seen one.

Honestly if you are going to have sex in a video game just fade to black. One of the things that always kills romance subplots for me are the awkward character animations.
Well, you COULD MoCap them...

Which would look rather funny. Two people in tight black and blue suits with ping pong balls glued to them move as they had sex. Their personal sex would even be irrelevant.

Hilarious.

OT: Sorry, but I don't believe the outrage the first ME caused had NOTHING AT ALL to do with the second one being less explicit in that category, you can talk all you want.

Huh, what a load of crap.

I agree that insisting on sexual content in games is immature, but lets just call it like it is: Bioware or their parent EA are afraid of bad press.

Look at the trend: Bioware releases Jade Empire that has no nudity, but a mild homosexual relationship if the player wants. Then they pop out Mass Effect. Mild homosexual female relationship, and a scene of a bare butt.

Then Fox News jumped on them.

Now they released Dragon Age, where they amped up the relationships....but they are only intimate in their underwear. Mass Effect 2 doesn't even really give you that. You get to see Miranda's lacy bra...which is nice, but not much else.

The trend points to them becoming more conservative, most likely from outside pressures.
