Why is it every time I watch a DVD on my PS2 I am asked to enter a parental code because of the content, but at the same time I can use my shotgun to blow the heads off of all the zombies and pedestrians I wish parental code free?

Just a thought and a question.

I find it quite amusing that there is a backdoor to the parental controls.

The funniest part is that it is much more likely that kids will find this on the internet somewhere and abuse it, than parents finding it to help them out if they forget their password.

I just thought it was odd. It doesn't really bother me. And the code for mine and everyone elses seems to be either 0000 or 6969 by default. Those seem to be the first anybody tries anyway and I'm guessing any game savvy kid would know that. And yes, they probably would be able to find the backdoor on the internet long before doing so even occured to their parents.

Reed - wouldn't the simple answer be because the rating is encoded on the DVD disc, but not required to be on game discs?

That's weird I've never been asked for a code? What region are you on?
The thread was from 2 years ago for Christ's' sake. I am sure he has sorted it out by now.
