On the one hand, this looks silly, sexist and embarrassing.

On the other hand, I was happy to see an FPS that used the whole colour palette.

Fuckin retarded.

Shit like this makes it hard to defend the good stuff that comes out of Japan.

Almost makes me just not wanna try.
So, just because it's Japan, a single bad thing suddenly negates all the good things?

Meanwhile, Western culture produced Half-Life 2 as well as every single movie produced by the Scary Movie team, and Justin Beiber.
This is true, terrible crap gets made everywhere, and Western culture is certainly not immune to this truism. But even relatively normal things from Japan still generally seem like the products of rampant hallucinogenic substance abuse to some degree, and the ratio of bizarre and perverted to "normal" tends to be a lot higher per capita.

Thus fanatical adoration of Japanese popular cultural products because they are from Japan is something I can't really take very seriously, knowing what I do about the products of Japanese popular culture.
Well, on the other hand, maybe the "rampant hallucinogenic substance abuse" is precisely what people find appealing about them. Katamari Damacy wouldn't have ever come out of the west, for example, and it was awesome.
Well, even being such a large consumer of Western culture and a devout skeptic of Japanese culture, I'll admit that they do/have(mostly have) produce(d) plenty of things that aren't fucking trippy that are absolutely of note. Okami, for one, and any movie by Hayao Miyazaki for another.

Japanese culture just seems really trippy and surreal to the western eye, but a great deal of their culture is layered with symbolism that most of us 'don't get' that cause them to see it in a different light.

Besides, Western culture isn't exactly foreign to the mind screw. See: A Space Odyssey, 2001.

This looks incredibly stupid.

The only way this could not be stupid is if you got to see tits and hardcore sex. That's the only way something this bizarre and pathetic could possibly be justified.

I'm usually pretty accepting of this kind of stuff, but even that witch groping game was... well, actually that was even dumber than this. The new series they're working on where you slap a demon prostitute in the tits until she cries uncle is a little better but...

Occasionally I get upset that certain games were never brought to America (e.g. Super Robot Wars), but I think we can live without this.

The more I still see stories like this...

The more I question my own country for being afraid of sexual existance, I listen to those in the US talk about how perverted Japanese stuff is...

Then it turns right around, and they don't like dismembering, disembowling ect, you know the gore of mass murder America seems to love...

And yet sex is natural unless your sheltered by bible thumping twits who are ashamed of sex when told to go forth and multiply, and are the same people who grew up playing genocide as kids (oh I mean cowboys and Indians)

I think being less ashamed about sex and MORE ashamed about murders and gore is the better path.

And don't argue that Japan has higher birth rates because of it's shameless sex... they have the lowest in the world.

And America still has the highest murder rate...

Maybe America needs to get laid more?

Well........that's an interesting new take on a rail shooter. I give them credit just for coming up with an idea like that, and even more credit for going through with it and making the game.

And then, there was only one question;
...WHY?!?!
Followed by the best answer in the form of another question;
WHY NOT?!?!

I hope this makes it on to the PSN somehow. Or perhaps a PC version gets released and I can get that. Either way, this is a must have. Too much of the macho manly crap in this gen's gaming scene; we need more hearts, flowers, tentacles and squealing/moaning school girls! Oh, and the flying sheep are nice too. Man, I can't believe this is on the X360. The Wii and the Move (with its dildo-like controllers) were totally MADE for this rail shooter.

And people wonder why I can't take admitted Japanophiles very seriously (Hint: It's things like this).
What if, just for the sake of argument, they're into, you know, actual Japanese history and literature and serious cultural things? It's the same way English literature includes both Shakespeare and Twilight.
Well in that case their interest is commendable and something I'd be inclined to take serious, but I've never actually met anyone who fits that description - all the folks I know obsessed with Japan fixate on Japanese pop culture (which I can't take seriously).

Hm. I realise that, being neither male nor Japanese, I'm definitely not the target audience, but...this game seems a bit, well, boring? Not that I'd rather it was more graphic or perverted or anything, but...I don't know, it just doesn't seem to actually have much actual game to it?

Hold on. Stop overthinking this Cricket... =P

So... this is a typical galge that plays not like the usual visual novel but more like the House of the Dead games?

I wouldn't really call this "vaguely sexual" it's pretty sexual in my eyes.
