Microsoft Looking for New Project Gotham Racing Studio

Microsoft is reportedly in "secret talks" with several European studios about bringing back the Project Gotham Racing franchise on the Xbox 360.

The Project Gotham Racing series has fallen into disuse since developer Project Gotham Racing 4 [http://www.bizarrecreations.com/], its last game for Microsoft. But it may soon make a comeback, if an anonymous insider is to be believed.

A "trusted source" told Forza Motorsport [http://www.develop-online.net/news/36227/Project-Gotham-Racing-revival-underway] developer Turn 10 Studios, which is owned by Microsoft, would be a good candidate to take over the series. Now, however, it appears that the publisher wants the game put back in the hands of an independent.

The Project Gotham Racing series debuted on the Xbox in late 2001 as a follow-up to Bizarre's disillusioned [http://www.amazon.com/Metropolis-Street-Racer/dp/B000035YBQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1288710137&sr=8-1]" with Microsoft, which was growing "corporate and cocky" because of its apparent victory over Sony in the console wars.

This is good news. PGR 2 was a surprise hit for my brothers and I back on the original Xbox. Perhaps nostalgia is blinding me a little, but I remember us having a fair bit of fun with it.

By the time PRG4 came out, however, Bizarre co-founder Martyn Chudney said the studio was becoming "disillusioned [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/91545-PGR4-Studio-Became-Disillusioned-With-Microsoft]" with Microsoft, which was growing "corporate and cocky" because of its apparent victory over Sony in the console wars.
I bet they didn't look too far into Kotick...

This was the first game series I had for my 360. I loved it and played it to death - right up until my 360 red ringed and I cursed Microsoft to hell, refusing to ever buy one of their products again... Oh what memories.
